Yes, it’s his old Times account.

He’s transferred the content across to a personal one:

I saw him saying something about leaving the Times but didn’t know he’d been sacked. Is there anything out there as to the reason? Must be something more to it than that…

Maybe not :man_shrugging:

No, that’s it. Tony Gallagher doesn’t think he’s aligned with the editorial line of the paper, and certainly not the direction that it’s moving in.

isnt he bald

Yep definitely seems to be the case actually.

What that means for all those that are still there, and who claim to be sensible centrists, I don’t know…

The likes of Aaro etc, are very quiet this morning.

Probably why he’s just RTing everything anyone’s saying to him.

Including this https://twitter.com/BrookerHG/status/1294195224374386688

Take a good look at him now
'Cause he’ll still be standing here
And him coming back to The Times is against all odds
It’s the chance he’s got to take
Take a look at him now

Boglin fight!

I don’t know who this geez is, can someone lay out this all out for me like a five year old?

Speak to me as you would a young child, or a golden retriever

All the information is in the thread really from marckee’s post downwards. Former Blair speechwriter, Times columnist for many years, mainly notable for being very critical of Corbyn, now been sacked.

But… what does that say about the Times’ editorial direction or anything?

It means they no longer see the need for a right-centrist criticising the Labour party on Sensible grounds, and will now get in a proper foamer who agrees with everything Johnson’s doing.

Good example of how Corbyn moved the window leftwards, and now he’s been replaced by an absolute vacuum of a man we’re heading rightwards once again.

Shifting rightwards under Tony Gallagher (deputy editor, formerly editor of The Sun and an editor at The Telegraph). Most likely explanation (as laid out by marckee initially) is that he’s been binned for being more critical of Johnson’s government recently rather than just writing Corbyn-critical pieces.

Editorial move possibly sparked by an upturn in recent fortunes at The Telegraph perhaps?

They replaced Patrick Kidd with Quentin Letts, so it’s clear in which direction it’s heading

A sidenote of this is that it really is precious that srs columnists like this muppet and D’ancona really think they’re valuable commodities rather than utter tools that the powers that be will dispose of when it suits them. A work experience kid could do what they do, and soon enough will. They’re the last of a dying breed and honestly that extinction can’t come quickly enough.
