I really like Is a Woman but it’s definitely one where you have to be in the right mood and just kind of let it all seep in as a whole isn’t it.

Think I love the first half of that album but it’s like it’s too wonderful to sustain.

I am happy to hear Vic’s voice almost anywhere tbh so easy to please in that respect. Such a powerful idiosyncratic singing style

Yep totally distinctive isn’t he. Or at least I don’t know of anyone like him.

I think most of it is on tour CDs and possibly some is also on Tools In The Dryer. I could be wrong though. I know I didn’t buy it because I had all the tracks in some form or another already.

Ah, that’s a sad story Bam. I hope when you’re in the right frame of mind it’s something that brings you some comforting recollection of your friend.

Is A Woman is such a beautiful, delicate record and I think pre-dates that Kozelek meta style of writing by a good few years. The Old Matchbook Trick does it so well - a simple, straightforward narration about being in a touring band that somehow becomes really wistful and moving.

Yeah there’s just a gentleness to everything without being cloying or twee or anything. Pitch perfect imo
