If you buy one online, don’t forget to check the size. A mate of mine bought what she thought would be a nice table lamp for her front room, only to discover when it was delivered that it was for a dolls house.

We’ve got these lovely John Lewis lamps. HOWEVER they take Halogen dimmable bulbs, but you can’t buy halogen bulbs any more, and the so-called ‘dimmable’ LED bulbs don’t dim properly.

They’re discontinued now, used to be able to get them for about £25. Think they were worth it, combined with a £15 ikea fado lamp and you get and amazing atmospheric lamp. I have hoarded a small stockpile of them for when they eventually break. Was hoping the LIFX bulbs would be as good but they are not, it’s the dynamic moods were other colour changing bulbs haven’t got it right
