It’s July, post your stats for the first half of the year. Top artist plays, top albums, top songs, whatever.
Top artists
Top albums: kinda shit because obviously albums with the most tracks are at top, even if I only listened to them 2-3 times (the top 4 specifically).
Top tracks: clipping. has a track called “Intro” on 4 of their albums and I’ve listened to each one several times this year. Kassie Krut are the real winners here, many others influenced by Music Leagues.
Mogwai comfortably in the top spot for Artists due to my 'gwaiathon earlier this year:
Genuinely surprised Steven Wilson is 1st in Albums, given I was on the fence about buying it:
Tracks are all basically album oriented so won’t bother with anything more than top 5:
That Ghost track is absolutely smashing though.
Will post mine tomorrow, posting in here to remind myself
Top albums
Although I am very fond of The Hirs Collective (and I am looking forward to seeing them for the second time later this year) this is evidently only on here due to its length (and it turns out I’ve only scrobbled 98 of the 100 songs if that is actually the quantity of tracks!) which is a little bit annoying, but I wonder how else you would measure top albums if not by number of tracks played from it?
Top artists
Osees have really been ruined by tagging, can I fix this? Probably? Am I arsed enough to do that? I doubt it.
Top tracks (some variation on the usual suspects!)
I’ve spent the past year or so listening to lots of things that are new to me, and whilst that is very fun and I’ve discovered lots of new to me music, I miss knowing every lyric and beat on certain albums. So more recently I’ve started to return to old favourites and go deeper into repeat listening to those which I connected with more recently.
Argh fuck, so my new phone wasn’t set up to let Last.fm scrobble.
Well, at least I’ve found out now.
Listening clubs leading the way. Nice to have new stuff from Pulp and Stereolab. Lots of pre & post gig listening too.
Flipping love that Billy Woods album.
Top ten tracks. Very excited about having new Pulp
Artists chart… not surprised that listening clubs dominate
Albums chart… very DiS number one, a bit of a pattern elsewhere
Basically all their respective new (or reissued in at least one case) albums from this year. Honourable exception to Tullycraft, whose old stuff I’ve been digging into.
Top artists - fairly business as usual for me - Pulp top due to having a new album out and the Beach Boys coming in late after a Brianathon a few weeks ago.
Don’t really do albums, so here’s my tracks instead
Is there a way to fix it because I wasn’t sure…it’s annoying that a few albums (Protean threat, Metamorphosed, Live at Big Sur) automatically tag as Osees when the rest default to Oh Sees
They’re such a pain with name changes - I just retag everything to Thee Oh Sees which was what they were called when I first listened
You can edit scrobbles and set autocorrect rules if you have a paid account. It’s honestly amazing (and incredibly satisfying).
On my iTunes library (ie the stuff I actually own on CD or vinyl) I have them tagged as whatever the actual name was but have all the album artist fields as Oh Sees, as a middle ground compromise so they appear as one artist rather than multiple.
On Tidal the new stuff is tagged as “Oh Sees, Osees” so I have to fix it either way on last fm. I should probably just set up rules to autocorrect everything to just Oh Sees…
Having one of those years where I’m not caning specific albums over and over and trying to listen to lots of different albums.
I was just going to ask whether it was only possible to edit them with premium. I have a free account for the time being.
