Echo Ladies at The Shacklewell Arms

Excellent Swedish shoegazing. Worth checking out.

I went to EL as well. Was excellent although sound quality wasn’t great.

Yeah. True.

The sound quality for the support band was far better. Enjoy Echo Ladies a lot nonetheless. Enjoyed it more so as it was free although I did buy a t-shirt of theirs which I probably wouldn’t have if it was a normal pay gig.

('mon) The Beths : Indian Summer @ BAaD, Glasgow

Well kids, let me tell you, a day gig on the same afternoon as an Old Firm game is quite the experience. Basically, if you want to get abuse from an auld jakey for not wearing a Rangers/Celtic top to the sound of what seemed to be around 12000 Dubliners tribute bands, then Glesca’s your place. (His efforts did pale in comparison to another jakey later on that night who proudly told us he was “aff hame tae masturbate”. Did think of replying to him with “good for you pal, knock yourself out” but he was off to do that anyway, wasn’t he.)

Oh aye, that’s right, there was a gig. Needless to say ('mon) The Beths were great, played four (?) new songs which they’re intending on recording when they get back to NZ and they sounded pretty good, looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Whole lot of other bands on the bill as this was part of Indian Summer - Gaffa Tape Sandy were decent as were Sports Team, despite their lead singer so desperately wanting to be Mick Jagger that he managed to tear a hole in the fabric of the Stella Street newsagents. I wonder if he’s seen the price of those marshmallows.

BAaD’s a decent wee venue too, despite it feeling slightly like watching a gig in someone’s greenhouse. Recommended for fans of indie-pop and tomato plants.

Molly Sarlé at St Pancras Old Church

Sublime gig (especially after two back to back night shifts).

Thank you @Bobsin for the heads up about the artist. I hadn’t heard of her before you posted a song of hers here.

Teeth of the Sea at Oslo was amazing. Can’t believe I only heard this band this year - I’d always known the name but had never listened. Turns out they’re pretty much my perfect band. Was great

Going tomorrow - this kind of pic only gets me more excited :+1:

Saw Teeth of the Sea last night, they were suported by snooker legend Steve Davis who was playing with his synth prog band.

It was a bit dull to be honest.

But Teeth of the Sea, holy shit :open_mouth: It was my third time seeing them this year and they were just jaw droppingly good. I’ve seen them 6 times and it’s the best I’ve ever seen them play. Gladiators ready was a beast!

Press Club at The New Cross Inn

Phenomenal live. One of the best live bands out there. Great gig and it was great meeting up @anon3515918 and @hip_young_gunslinger last night.

Great to meet you too! And yeah, absolutely fantastic gig. Never planned to get in a pit at my advanced age, but it was kind of unavoidable by the end.

Sasami was bloody brilliant at Clwb Ifor Bach last night. Much rawer, grittier and looser than on record, really grabbing each song by the throat. The albums gone from being in regular rotation to AOTY contender over the past couple of weeks.

Oh Sees at the Troxy. Was standing near the stairs towards the front so go pushed around a lot but I’d had a couple of beers so I wasn’t so bothered. I’m glad they played all the “hits” and not just the new album as I haven’t really heard it still.

Who was the geezer that came on stage at the end? I felt like everyone knew him but me

Workmans is a nice little venue isn’t it?

Aye, and the bar next door does a great mojito.

The Flaming Lips @ Brixton Academy…

20th anniversary performance of The Soft Bulletin. When they initially toured this was the first time I ever saw them, so there was a pleasing degree of symmetry to this show. It was bloody brilliant tbh tbf - just nonstop fun.

Saturday night Brixton crowd were bang up for it too - every word of every song was sung out loud. A reminder that The Soft Bulletin is actually a properly great album.

Towards the end, I got to shake Wayne Coyne’s hand when he rode his unicorn through the crowd - which is quite a pleasing sentence to type…

Great show, though as always it’d have been even better if Wayne wasn’t so damn needy. “Waitin’ For A Superman” and “Suddenly Everything Has Changed” were welcome reminders that under the confetti and giant balloons, they’re still a genuinely good band.
