Jemma Freeman and The Cosmic Something at Paper Dress Vintage

Brilliant album. I did them a disservice of putting their album only as 5th on my vote of AOTM for October. It’s far far better than that and they’re just as good live.

I told Jemma that I loved their set on my way out of the venue but if @anon3515918 could pass on the fact that it was an absolute stunner of a gig if possible?

I hadn’t seen the new band line up live before. They’re just as brilliant if not better.

How many new songs did you play @anon3515918 ? Five? I’m usually a grumpy old cynical bastard and dislike new songs played live but loved the new ones. Looking forward to an EP/album next year I hope.

“You’re Not The Centre Of The Universe” sounded excellent (apologies if I got the song title wrong).

The new ones sound awesome. Thanks for a great night out.

Cult of Luna, Brutus and AA Williams @ Electric Ballroom

Artists producing some of my favourite releases this year all on one bill? Yes, please. What a me fest! Incredible, diverse performances from all of them. Crazy 6.15 start, but hastily rearranged travel plans were worth making to see AA Williams. The non-EP tracks went brilliantly into louder territory. Brutus have one great song after another and Cult of Luna were suitably otherworldly (despite a few sound wobbles in the middle somewhere.)

Not bad at all. Mind quite blown.

Yep, album is 100% gonna be out next year

Lovely to see you and thanks for saying that about that song. Always nerve wracking playing something live for the very first time, especially as I actually write the songs so infrequently! Yeah we played 5 new/3 old, we ran over our set into Bugeyes time quite a bit! Whoops!

A.a Williams, Brutus and Cult of Luna.

A.A sounded amazing. It’s hard to believe she only one ep. Shoegazing Gothness. I love it.

I had no idea who Brutus were but their punky metal sound will have me checking them out.
How the singer can perform like that while drumming is amazing.

Cult of Luna were insanely heavy, just slabs of riffs trying to crush the life out of everyone. Just masterful post metal that never got boring, which is a danger with this kind of music.

Just what I wanted out of them :metal:

Loro- local people playing some lovely instrumental emo tunes.

Punch On!- inspiringly heavy octave chords

Overo: I’m going to describe this with an emoji :heartpulse:

Cady: one of the most intense sets I’ve seen from them in a while

Yeah pretty incredible, the new reworkings of the first album songs work great with the synth in the quiet moments, gorgeous.

Also I don’t think any other bands should play cover songs after hearing Keep Yourself Warm. They’ve basically been made irrelevant by how perfect that was, took the original and infused it with their own thing and spirit and heart and just took it to another plain. Had me full on greetin’

Rest in peace Scott x

Was in tears at a few points in the show (not unusual) and so was my husband (very unusual). What a band. Yes, agree with everything about Keep Yourself Warm.

Yeah, that was quite something!

God that’s a good photo :grimacing:

Great energy these lot, their drummer is super entertaining to watch as well as vocals obv. Was surprised how small the venue was, expected them to be a much bigger deal here but eh. Good show though, their cover of the killers notwithstanding

The venue was weird, they decided to expand it on the day and had loads of tickets on the door so it just ended up going from sold out to half empty. Come to think of it I didn’t even show my ticket to anyone at any point…
