I remember setting up and playing the bass line to evil so the resident DiS DJ (any idea?) played it as we went on. Tim Farmington of Les Savy Fav was there. Great days…

I think they’ve got better with every album, but I like the lot. The BBC Sessions also has great versions of tracks newer and older.

Empiresk is my favourite RT song probably. And the EP posted above is a blinder!

I don’t think Rolo are all that great without the two Joes. I thought their last LP was pretty bad.

is anyone off Movielife tonight?

theyre so much better nowadays then the old nintendo bleeps

I went to see them a year or so ago only cause I was wanting to see the supports and stuck around to see the headliners (wanky hipster alert). It’s a weird place to be in a gig when you don’t know the band, especially when the crowd is Into It. It feels like gatecrashing someone else’s family party.

ah their old stuff is fantastic. Walking on Glass is such a tune

I bought one of the albums but can’t really get properly into them. They’re alright but the crowd that night was INTENSE. I think I’m expecting something to match that which it probably never will.

Saw them last week in Southampton - they were great! All the hits.

I saw Dinner last night at the Moth Club in London, and in Brighton the night before. Super 80s sounding with a great front man with bonkers dancing. And with the Choir Of Young Believers Chao in his band also. There were only 40 people maximum in the London gig, but they pretty much had everyone dancing about. Possibly my favourite live act of the year I think, albeit way too short a set.
They’re playing in Glasgow tomorrow and Bristol on Thursday in case anyone wanted some ear-to-ear smiling fun.

Moonlandingz @ Trinity, Bristol - I thought it was going to be better than it was. Was hoping for a bit more of a psych / freak out vibe but it plodded along for the most part. The last song was very good and yer fella from Flat White is a very good front man / vocalist. The crowd loved it, as they do at these types of things. It was alright. Could have gone to Metz. That would probably have been alright too.

Saw The Divine Comedy last night in Leeds.
Neil Hannon was in fine voice - and they performed my two favourite DC tracks; Our Mutual Friend and A Lady Of A Certain Age.

I saw them in Edinburgh on Wednesday night. Agreed re Neil Hannon being in great voice. Played for just under two hours which is longer than I expected.

Yes, think he did about 26 songs in Leeds. Very good mixture from his entire back catalogue.

King Salami & the Cumberland Three at the Lexington last night. Support was Los Coyote Men. They’re from Newcastle but pretend to be Mexican wrestlers playing garage punk. Fun. Nearly as much fun as a bunch of French/Spanish/Japanese punks playing 50s/60s inspired party rhythm’n’blues.

Mac Demarco at the Barrowlands

It’s the fifth time I’ve seen Mac in the last 4 years, it’s always good fun live even if I don’t connect as much with his newer albums as much. The crowd were well up for it, almost caught me off guard and I dashed off to get a pint a few songs in as I was fed up of wee lads bashing past me constantly (am I getting old?)

Got more into it on my return, played a solid mix of old and new stuff. Sad there was nothing from Rock n Roll Nightclub though. Announced that they were playing the last song a good 50 minutes before it was advertised as ending, ended up doing Still Together and then a mental medley of covers for the rest of the set before segueing back into Still Together at the end.

Went off, came back on, did a new one just himself and keys and made everyone sit down and wave their phone lights in the air. Bizarre stuff. Daft but fun. Will probably go and see him in an even bigger venue next time he tours as well.

Also, drink buckfast on stage at a Glasgow gig and the crowd are yours.

I had tickets but sold them as I couldn’t really be bothered, feels like more of a summer sort of guy. Sounds like it was really good, but I’m not too gutted I didn’t go.
