Only caught a bit of the show last night but that Ed Sheeran Galway girl song really fucking irks me which is some feat considering he’s a generally annoying bollocks.

That was exactly my reaction to Thundercat. I’d given the album a go and had given up and then watched him on Jools and thought “but it must be better than I thought”. Not re-listened to it yet, must do so this week.

watching the new one tonight… no great shakes. I don’t go in for future islands but they were the most compelling thing on. My dad liked how the guy danced. Think I might check out Mabel, but i’m drunk so I can’t be sure how she sounded. Blondie were OK i guess… not great

Started watching but bailed pretty quick and skipped through a lot. Blondie were dull, fair play to her/them for keeping at it but I spent the whole time thinking about how the early generations of modern pop/rock are so old now and it’s weird. Future Islands seemed a bit try-hard, I’d read their new album was more toned down on the vocals but he seemed to be doing a voice trick or a weird gesture for every line. Orchestra Baobab were probably the best there, but I feel like they make better background chill music rather than attention grabbing tv performances. Idk, maybe I’m too tired and being cynical, should probs just watch KEXP vids

Be like the Tuvaluan throats singing but without the hassle of creating two notes out of one set of pipes. I like to do a Tom Waits growl when I’m out on bike and nobody’s around (or if I’m pissed and have his songs in my head) but that’s as far as I go. Quite often ends in a fit of coughing and a sore throats though. Don’t know how they do it really. Wonder if any studies have been done into death metal and long term vocal cord health

I thought his voice was just shot from touring? Never listened to them too much though but as others have said they are entertaining to watch
