No, but others in that list are.

I have no books out, but owe them £1.10 for forgetting to return a book before I went on holiday.

My daughter wanted me to take her to the library after nursery the other week. I read her 5 books before she agreed we could go home and have dinner.

I did resist an arrogant “Well I’ll just use Amazon in future” remark but it came pretty close.

“best place for you mate”

I think the real question is why isn’t he taking out books worth WAY more than £20 to make sure it’s worth it?

That’s a good question. No checking out those schmo books for us anymore!

I regret I did not read their fine policy prior to signing up.

I actually really worry about library books being stolen and sold on Amazon Marketplace. At least two of the hard to find 2nd hand books I’ve had from Amazon are supposedly ex-library books but it’s not like there’s an official ‘ex-book hologram’ or something.

OTOH a load of the books I have from being a kid are also ex-library and I know my mum wasn’t stealing them. Oh well.

This was in 2011 I think it’s probably best left as it is.

Just use them for the sprogs books now, you cant fine children you fucking book nazis!!

From the Barb:

Murakami’s The strange library

Some true crime shizz: The killing season by Miles Corwin and The adversary by Emmanuel Carrère

And Tales of the city by Armistead Maupin (recommended by my colleague)

I borrowed these yesterday.

On reservation:

A manual for cleaning women for DiS bookclub. It’s overdue so I will have to go elsewhere to get it, I suspect.

Added info: I spent around 45 minutes in the Barb library yesterday and I felt rushed. I love it in there. Seriously.

You’re right actually, thanks to capitalism I basically pirate all my books for free.

Always spend waaaaay longer than I mean to in there, although it’s bit too toasty though. I like the quick choice section, I suspect it’s the Philip Larkin looking guy that does them.

I had to request one of the books from the store, so I did it beforehand via email. It wasn’t there when I arrived and they were so apologetic about it. I was almost like “mates I work in a library I’m one you YOUS, I know what it’s like, it’s fine!!!” but I didn’t.

Uh no you just make people pay for them.

Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay - Elena Ferrante. I have 11 days to read it. Started it this morning.
I have a small list of all the books I want to read written on the back of my bookmark so I’ll always have it when I go in.
