The drop off in quality on that album from the opening two tracks is quite something

There was a stripped down version of Coming Second that was on a freebie CD with NME, or Select or whatever which I loved and then lost. In the echoes of my addled mind, it’s become their best track. Otherwise, if I was picking a tune I could actually listen to today, it’d be Any Day Now

Grace Under Pressure cos I’m on it

me to!

Did you write in and get your name in the CD booklet as well? (I did)

Same but I really don’t think it’s a good song unfortunately (imo, obvs yer opinion is valid)

certainly did. seem to remember mine being somewhere near “additional vocals”

I also remember that that scoundrel @brusma put his name in there but wasn’t actually there!

Yeah, it’s not a very good song at all, but I have been able to vaguely impress about six people with the fact that I’m on it in the intervening 17 years, so for that reason, it is my favourite Elbow song.

Mirrorball is lovely too, fwiw, but Newborn is (one of the) correct answer(s).

Shit, Great Expectations. The vocal at “as I move down the aisle” is perfect.

Might be this actually

This was our first dance

My top 3 - scattered black and whites, some riot (not sure if that one’s been mentioned yet) and station approach
