Interesting that you assume that, because of my age, I’d be more likely to socialise. I actually don’t spend loads of time with friends, mainly because I haven’t gotten any yet.

I moved away from my parents and friends to find work. Sure I’ve met a few colleagues, and we get along, but I’m yet to make a good, trustworthy mate in the almost three years I’ve been working.

I think it’s because I’ve chosen to eschew social media. In someways, I feel this board is a good friend. No user in particular, but the general atmosphere, interests and things people are talking about. I can’t seem to find anybody similar in RL.

Strangely sentimental there at the end.

I refer to it as a fortress of solitude, somewhere I like to go to be alone and relax and be safe from unwelcome social intruders and real intruders. It used to be my flat but now my parents, friend and girlfriend has a key.

Having done all, I would say living with 1 or 2 other people you really like/love far trumps anything else.
Alone - too much housework, not enough attention to what you’re actually doing (likely to just let the place go to shit or set it on fire), no other people to get other bits of shopping or make you food or chat, just little things that make a big difference
Living with too many people - hell on earth
Living with a couple of people you’re not that keen on - bit awkward

So it is the runner up, which is still good. Just a bit of hard work/depressing.

Yeah, this. I live with an old friend and so get on really well. It’s still quite nice when I have the place to myself occasionally, but this is the best option in the absence of a tv.

Due to my social dysfunction I’m unable to ever really break the ice with people I live with so it just remains awkward for the duration of the tenancy and I avoid being in the same room as them if I can. Don’t think I’ll ever be able to overcome that and I’d love to live alone.
