I just moved to Blackhorse Road, it’s nice and leafy and cheaper and on the Victoria line, but there’s not much to do?

HIJACK: THINGS TO DO AROUND BLACKHORSE ROAD PLEASE.

I live in New Cross, it’s “fine” at best and I’m hoping to move somewhere better in August.

yeah i know of people who do this. wouldn’t really be up for living somewhere with paper thin walls, no windows or proper central heating.

come to SE5!

I’ll be honest, I got lucky being in a 3 bed flat (with a living room, which really should come as standard, but: London) in Zone 2 for £1400 - it’s just gone up a whopping £350 to £1750 a month but is still way, way cheaper than places I was looking at 2 years ago in E8.

but SE5 is the best.

proper walls, proper heating, proper haircuts, etc

Fixed this for you.

Ouch that’s quite a hike. You staying put or moving on? My bro lives in SE5 too! I’ll have to pay him a visit soon.

I live in a three bed flat in East Finchley for 1400 a month! The area ain’t massively exciting - it feels very suburban/familyish, and it suffers from not having enough good supermarkets - just an iceland and a budgens WTF. It does have some nice coffee shops/a decent pub, and it’s a stones throw away from Highgate and Muswell Hill, both of which are very nice indeed. There’s a LOT of green space - within walking distance from Hampstead Heath, Highgate Woods and Cherry Tree Wood which is a bit dodgy tbh. Commute into Central is around 25-30 mins on the tube, the Northern Line is gross tho

We’re staying put - we know that we can’t realistically do any better for any cheaper - in fact we’re way more likely to move somewhere worse for more money. We’ve just used it as leverage to try and get stuff done to the flat (there’s windows and stuff that need updating but we’ve always kind of just left it because the rent was so cheap and we could just put up with it)

Rowans!

I live in Hoxton in an old council block. Not bad in itself, got a living room, but was absolutely freezing this morning. A bit too expensive for me but I’m managing. Quite like a 20 min cycle into work and like being able to walk home from a night out. Not many big supermarkets nearby though

that sums up london property - wherever you hope to live, there’s always loads of stuff that’s more expensive. this is why slowly all my friends are moving further out

Those Twodio things look like fun. Fuck living in one when you’re 44 though. That’s quite depressing.

Go and live on Church Street in Stokey and have a lovely time

I live in an old council block in hoxton too. I live on the 10th floor (penthouse) and can confirm it’s preeeeeety freezing up here.

Quick bump for a Monday morining.

Seen a few places we like the look of around Brixton Hill, near the prison (yay). Seems easy enough by bus to get into central London and Brixton tube is only a 15-20 minute walk away so we’d be fairly close to everything there.

Anyone any thoughts on Brixton / Streatham Hill and what it’s like to live there? Is it ‘stabby’ or not so much anymore?

Brixton is very good. Extremely polluted, though.

Brixton, and Brixton Hill are lovely. You’re right near the Windmill too, for gigs.

nah you’ll be fine - you can even make the Windmill your local! (don’t make the Windmill your local)
