I voted Lib Dem in my local election, as it was held by the Tories. The results are in and the Tories have been ousted. This has cheered my up a little.

Lib Dem won the District election and Parish elections last year too.

I’ll probably vote Labour in the General election as this was the result last time.

Although the Lib Dems are really prominent around here, they were the only ones to canvass as far as i’m aware.

tories win in fucking shettleston and ferguslie park?!?!?!?!?! what the fuck?!
end times indedd.

A council election going through the prism of the Scottish independence question and brexit. To be honest if I was in charge of labour up here I wouldn’t know how to fight it either.

the new mayor of Liverpool is called Steve Rotheram. Why didn’t he just fucking stay where he came from.

It’s Rotherham.

The fact this happens in a modern democracy seems a bit odd but it did stop the tories winning so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ugh

Don’t think it helped that the turnout in Solihull was a fair bit higher than elsewhere (an eye watering 33.7%, the next highest was Brum at 28.5%), and they’re a massive bunch of tories.

All a big waste of time and money anyway really isn’t it, just for a Chief Binman/Pothole supervisor, probably why only a quarter of people bothered to vote.

I’m finding these results a bit strange to process what with the GE just 5 weeks away and the turnout so low

I’m not sure they’re relevant in the slightest but if I were May/the Conservatives I’d be a bit worried about this ‘poll’

the national vote share yesterday comes in at
CON: 38%
LAB: 27%
LDEM: 18%
UKIP: 5%

whereas the last yougov poll for GE (May2-3) was
CON: 48%
LAB: 29%
LDEM: 10%
UKIP: 5%

hmm

different elections

Might vote Tory in the GE. Fuck it. Embrace the overlords.

aye

I think the Corbyn factor is a lot less of an issue in local elections

About sums it up really doesnt it

Probably one for the heavy handed satire thread, but he can probably get someone to knock up an advert involving cuddly animals set to a piano version of ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ to convince everyone to come and do their Christmas shopping in Birmingham…

I think it’s a factor everywhere from what I’ve seen. People don’t just think he’s bad loads of lefties think he’s evil and terrible. They hate the MPs he’s friends with. It’s pretty bad. People aren’t going to vote for Labour and he is sort of the reason.
