Hope everyone’s alright. Just got this news as I got in and I’m sickened to read about it. Peace to my London homies.

Didn’t catch the news before bed last night. Just waking up to this :frowning: such horrible news; the only positive thing I can say is that you all react so impeccably in this kind of circumstance.

Haven’t looked at social media much but already seen one particularly disturbing comment. DiS is a great place for sobering discussion in such dark times

This sounds fucking awful.
Just glad everyone off here is safe ?.

Horrible news. Was meant to be at a stag do in the area yesterday that I couldn’t make. Close friends having to report they are safe. Hope you and yours are all ok.

Yeah, the fear kicked in during the tube ride going through Bank on the way back from Field Day. Was worried something else might happen as everyone was being piled on the train.

More freaked out about it now I’m sober than I was last night. If I hadn’t been staying at my friend’s then I’d very probably have been in the area at the time of the attack (albeit at London Bridge station rather than on the actual bridge… but even so)

So much ^this

Went to bed just as this was breaking, had nightmares about it. My first reaction upon checking the news this morning was relief that it was only seven, followed by sickness that we live in a world where seven people can be suddenly and callously murdered due to someone else’s fucked up value system and what I immediately think is that at least it wasn’t more.

Like others almost my first port of call when there’s incidents like this is here - maybe primarily because I need a reminder there’s still loads of decent people out there acting the right way. Obviously just being near something appalling like this is stressful beyond words, but I’m incredibly relieved that nobody here was hurt.

Absolutely terrible. Don’t really have anything to say other than I made the mistake of looking at Twitter earlier, and it really made me appreciate the response on here.

hope everyone is ok. watched the news until about 2am, it was very strange seeing footage right in the midst of the police operation, not sure I have seen anything like that before, people having to walk through the streets with their hands on their heads was very unsettling

So fucking horrible. Somehow this happening during Ramadan makes it worse, the fact that scum like Isis are going to claim it, making normal muslims more likely to be focussed on even though clearly, CLEARLY, these people would have been observing the holy month if they actually gave the slightest fuck about their faith. Sickening

Been struggling with how to word any appreciation…but a major, major incident happened and several DiSers nearby made themselves available to help.

That’s brilliant.

fair fucks to this fella

London Bridge and the surrounding roads including the station still not open this morning, I expect that might have an effect on some folks’ commutes.

Edit: bridge is open northbound and the station is open again.

very strange to see places so familiar to me on tv, I always pop in to the barrow boy to use the toilet before I get on the train at London Bridge. I had someone phone me to ask me if I was ok and I was bit dismissive as I would never be there on a Saturday and don’t live very close, but it did hit me 7 people aren’t ok and how horrible it would be for there loved ones phoning round.

My parents grew up in Belfast in the 70s/80s/90s too (still live there). I called them on Saturday night because I’d been evacuated from The Globe and was a bit freaked out, and my mum recalled crouching behind her kitchen counter while a Loyalist gang shot Catholics in the bookies next to her house on University ave, and how she wasn’t scared at all, just bored and frustrated because she’d been doing the ironing and so many bad things had happened she was just completely desensitized to it all. Terrifying that I can already see that numbness happening in people around me.

Feel for you man, everything is a bit more tense at the moment but it will improve. Much more of a police presence, and that suspicious items announcement is definitely being played noticeably more, which I’m not sure is great for people’s confidence (or actually behaviour changing, so nonsense both ways tbh) but it’ll subside, everything does. Shit time atm eh.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, Survival instinct isn’t it. Don’t be hard in yourself for feeling this way
