london pubs and/or food (rolling)

there’s a restaurants thread but I’m after something more basic

tomorrow I’m going to do karaoke near waterloo so I want to pre-drink and eat, but doesn’t have to be proper restaurant style eating

where’s good?

I went here last week for food and drinks, food was decent and the happy hour cocktails were great.

But I want to do something different this time…

happy hours particularly welcome

rolling thread so we can collate other queries like this

tbh i always just go down to the southbank and get something from a pop up thing or waggamamas when i’m in waterloo.

funnily enough wagamama was the first place suggested before I mentioned cubana

Roti King on Lower Marsh
Forza Wine in the National Theatre
Marie’s Thai on Lower Marsh (BYOB)

The Anchor & Hope pub on The Cut is very good for a pre-theatre meal

The Kings Arms on Roupell Street has a Thai kitchen. I ate there years ago and it was good.

Always wanted to try The Ship on Kennington Road which does pizza. Looks nice when I go past on the bus sometimes. Might be too far.

The Hercules does good wings and bitty things like that.

Brewdog. It has a slide, it’ll blow your mind

Maybe one for @aboynamedgoo where would you suggest for a quick bite and/or a beer before a gig at the garage

Tofu Vegan

Edit: actually that’s down the southern end of Upper Street, so maybe not there.

I’ll have a think

The Lamb is one of my favourite pubs in London. Don’t think they do food but used to have a hookup with a local pizza place which was decent. That’s reminded me that Zia Lucia over the road is v good pizza too.

Compton Arms (behind the Union Chapel) is a few mins walk away

If you just want a drink then The Lamb (as recommended above by @BobRickerton) is an excellent choice

Any recommendations for a pub walking distance from Euston Station? I’ve only ever been to bad ones. Extra points for some decent pub food too

Euston Tap
