Oh yeah, anywhere near the City can do one

It’d be nice if it was like in my first job, living in Shoreditch and working in Shoreditch. A little while before it all changed there. My old flat is probably 20 times the price now.

I always enjoy when people who don’t live in London know exactly what London is like.

a rank, busy commute - Overground train takes 25 mins, always get a seat or I cycle and it’s very nice.

lots of noise - nope

pollution - everyone is suffering pollution unless you’re living in the countryside but then again you’re probably burning candles which cause more pollution in your home than standing on a busy london street so…

its incredibly expensive - We get paid more so it’s not.

the housing market is a shambles - Not necessarily. It depends.

If there’s anywhere in London where those criticisms don’t apply to then I’d live there happily - Theres an absolute shit ton of places like that.

Are the Londoners still being needly defensive about their life decisions ITT?

personally I would say that Aggpass’s original post is pretty spot on

But it’s really not that bad in the grand scheme of things. And I can guarantee you’d much rather have a crowded tube than having to wait 30 mins for a shit bus somewhere else in the country.

I would personally say he’s largely talking bullshit.

I enjoy to live in London but it’s largely as a result of shops being open and public transport still running beyond 1900 which is still a novelty to me having grown up in rural and suburban Kent.

I mean I’m mainly stating a preference in fairly mild terms

You’re trying to state facts.

imo I don’t think you can judge whether or not somewhere is a shit place to live unless you’ve lived there.

I’ve never said London is a shit place to live.

Eh? You listed a load of negative reasons why you wouldn’t want to live in London?

Which, of course, literally nobody in London has ever done or ever would do.

“imo”

Brilliant.

Yeah, I would rather live in the surrounding area of a small city than a big one. You would rather live in/near a big city. That’s fine. Sheffield is better suited to the lifestyle I want and what I enjoy than i think London would be.

What?

Oh Sheffield is a shit hole tho.

Would be interesting to see where individual boroughs would place rather than an average.

The air in the central areas is utterly rank. Never come across anything like it, you can taste the pollution.
