I deffo don’t think that’s what he meant, but it is racially exclusionary (and exclusive of i.e. people with PCOS) - in the same way that I don’t think Jake realises how exclusive “blonde and petite” is

I’m going to have to watch this episode in the office now so I can see what this arm hair stuff is about

I’d get being like “not into hairy legs” BUT ARM HAIR?!? Are you also not into eyeballs?! Or teeth?

I still don’t see how it’s racially exclusionary to be quite honest, the arm hair thing. I get how Jake’s comments come across of obviously having a narrow preference though but again that’s his preference really.

Something I hadn’t thought about but saw elsewhere and thought was a decent point - Hugo grew up with a disability and had to undergo multiple surgeries to improve his quality of life, so for Faye to kick off at him about how she ‘needed’ a boob job because she was insecure was perhaps a bit tone deaf

Not that I think she isn’t entitled to her feelings on that but it’s a bit hmm

wasnt even aware of this

Yeah I was going to reply to your other message, but agree 100% it’s a bit hmmm. The way she reacted really bothered me, I really felt for Hugo.

I agree, but I wondered if they didn’t get upset about the arm hair because that hadn’t personally affected them.

iTV2 isnt HD so cant check their arms for hair :face_with_monocle:

Maybe it was from Faye, but also from Hugo too, because he should maybe have a bit more awareness given his own experience?

But taking all of them comments from the guys so far on the show, they really seem to have a very narrow view on what is attractive physically and what is acceptable behaviourally from women. Properly feels like we’ve stepped back in time with this series and it’s been really disappointing to watch.

I’m hoping that they have a few Ovies up their sleeves to bring in and show them how to behave

Yeah, I think that’s fair!

I feel like we are maybe missing 1 good egg in the men but it’s the same in every series right? Can only think of a handful of men that have had their head screwed on.

I mean don’t forget we are talking about Love Island here, things get read in to far too much imo, it’s a stupidly superficial show that relies on good looking vapid people who are looking for some exposure. I’m surprised it’s still so popular in this day and age to be honest. Not really expecting top morals form anyone involved.

Also there seems to be younger guys and some older girls which probably doesn’t help with how silly younger guys are.

I feel a bit sorry for Hugo cause I do think he’s a genuinely nice guy who didn’t mean it but come on, what was he thinking staring at a load of puffed up lips and repeatedly saying I HATE FAKE LOOKS.

I actually think that might have been a set up by production sadly.

Yeah the age gap is odd. Toby seems to be a nice lad but still quite immature.

Or even a Tommy Fury, he was nice

Yeah I’m interested in him, he kind of give me the impression he wasn’t that into Kaz but seems like he really wants to give it a go. Hope it’s for the right reasons and not just to stay in!

Yeah I’m hoping his reluctance is just because he’s not had a girlfriend before and he’s anxious about committing rather than because he’s not that into Kaz, guess we’ll see

Yeah I’d take even him right now. He seemed quite gentlemanly

Have been catching up on this over the past couple of days. It’s definitely been a slow start compared to other series although it has improved a bit the last few nights

The guys are particularly immature this year and at points downright scary. Jake and Brad seem so manipulative and some of Aaron’s comments in the past few episodes have been grim. Liam is devoid of any personality really. I would agree Tobi is OK (and seems to be one of the few guys with a personality), but I don’t trust him yet to not hurt Kaz.

I think Hugo is alright too - although we haven’t got to see him in a relationship setting yet so it’s on easy mode for him atm. Weirdly, despite being a massive Tory, Chuggs seemed like a decent enough guy.

The girls are a lot better than the guys so far and it’s a shame they’re having to couple up with such dickheads. Liberty seems like a lovely person (although very naive with Jake at the moment and needs better advice), and Kaz also seems genuine and funny. Faye can be a bit much but is amazing TV, and I love how she gives it back to Brad and Liam (who are both clearly so used to getting their own way). I like Rachel too but she needs to get away from Brad sharpish. Chloe was a little annoying when she first came in but seems to be a bit less naive when it comes to the guys (again, she saw straight through Brad). Sharon is fine I guess, although is coming across a bit moody when I reckon she’s just quite dry and sarcastic.

Excited for some good Love Island thread chat! DiS was great fun during series 4 and 5 (the winter series didn’t exist)

:desert_island:

Was better than this current one
