I feel like being a celebrity in 2020 must be a totally different thing to being one 10 years ago.

Dreadfully sad news.

Says everything you need to know about the press that the Mirror broke the news and the Mail, The Sun & The Mirror were all the top tweets on the search page thing on twitter if you clicked on the headline thing. That picture

Dan Wooton can go fuck himself and all he’ll be on GMB on Monday hand ringing.

Hope you’re feeling ok. I’ve never watched Love Island and don’t really know Caroline Flack muc, but still feel very hit by it. Very, very sad.

Genuinely never understood all the hate she got, I thought she was a clever and funny person and always enjoyed everything she did.

I also really feel for Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling having to continue with the show, they were both close friends of hers.

Horrific :pensive:

Don’t really understand why the CPS were so determined to prosecute

Because it was easy. Trial by media.

Yeah I am meant to be going out with my friends (none of whom watch Love Island) and I feel really strange and subdued cos of this

I can understand exactly why she got the hate she did. Some of it perfectly deserved tbh and that can’t be forgotten just because she has died. Loads of it undeserved however and unkind and unecessary. And the media hounding was completely disproportionate regardless of her actions.
It’s so sad that, despite the fact I’m quite sure she was on suicide watch by those around her and being supported as best as they could, this still happened and she felt that she had no way out.

There were very good reasons that I will not go into out of respect. But jfc, this is not the fault of the cps, who are doing their job.

I cant help wonder how much of that bad stuff happened because of a direct/indirect result of all the hounding

I thought she had been exposed to be in contact with her ex yesterday, which under the terms of her case, she’s not meant to be doing that. I’m guessing that probably played a bit part it this and everything just got 10 x more exasperated.

Really very sad. Fuck the press!!!

It’s a standard term of bail conditions in assault cases (esp domestics) for the accused to agree not to get in touch with the alleged victim, but they really both seemed to struggle (and flout it!) Who knows what private contact was being made via burner phones etc and what might have tipped her over.

I’ve actually thought about this now and I agree with you.

Seems weird to imagine Love Island tomorrow night with Iain Sterling doing his funny voiceover, do you think it’ll still go ahead?

That beneath her name here is upsetting to look at

Ooft. Fucking hell :sob:
