I thought the second episode was a complete stinker  Every time there was a commercial break it seemed to come back to a completely different episode.

Fingers crossed that it rights itself.

Not with you on the stinker but it did feel like we’d lost some footage after at least one of them.

Yeah, the one where they just appeared in that tower dungeon thing. Definitely didn’t hit the heights of the first one though and it’s a shame Johnnie Cochran has snuffed it

That’s the one I’m thinking of. Wonder where we’re off to next.

Feels like that plot line is at an end.

Don’t engage with the book readers!

watched episode 1 now, they crammed a LOT of plot into an hour.

The book was a bit hit and miss from what I remember. I read the book by the way. Two years ago. I read books often. Book book book.

Yeah, significant drop in quality from first to second episode. Weird that you have an opening episode that’s such a slow build and then the second episode is literally so madcap and all over the place they’re clearly having to skip chunks of the story to get it all in. Worried it’s going to be one of those where there’s tons of good ideas and so much potential but ultimately nobody has actually bothered to plot out a decent coherent story. Hope it gets back on track next week.

Quite surprised by what a bellend Atticus has been.

Better episode though.

Watched the first four now. Enjoying how pulpy it is and how every episode is riffing off a genre trope.

Can see how it can feel like a massive tonal shift from the first episode though and why not everyone would be into that. First one now feels like a parody of a Quality HBO Drama to me.

Fancy volunteering to fight in Korea. What a loon.

Is anyone actually watching this? Was excited to check it out but doesn’t seem to have made a splash at all, and I don’t want to waste my time.

gave up after about 4 episodes.

I was really excited about the show but it’s a flippin’ mess. Wasn’t really invested in the characters but I really lost patience when it didn’t look like a coherent plot was ever going to emerge. Not remotely scary or disturbing either.

Amazed that that “Negro Motorists guide” was actually real.

Seen the 1st two eps, it looks good eh

Torn on this, and have fallen a few episodes behind. Really like the first few episodes but there have been a few issues. One is that each episode is paced similarly so it all feels quite samey (eg ending with a big flashy spectacle) and that makes it a tiring show to watch. There’s a lot of individual elements I like but it’s less than the sum of its parts. Will probably see out the season.

I’ve just caught up with it! Some things I really like about it (not really spoilers but spoilered anyway):

The stand-alone nature of many of the episodes is so good. It took me a while to calibrate to this a bit, but I think this approach makes for a really kind of stylistically unpredictable show in a way that mostly works, and fits with the pulp horror short story reference points. I think the only misfire imo was episode 2, which almost turned me off the entire show completely after how tense and brilliant the first episode was. In this respect, I’m really glad to see a sort of “high-end TV drama” that genuinely gets weird with the storytelling and presentation, instead of sticking to the sort of “what you expect from a high-end TV drama” like a lot of other shows of this sort of calibre

Not seen it but gonna assume it’s what Oscar winning film Green Book is about?

Only done two episodes so far
EP 1 - woweee yes. YES!
EP 2 - :upside_down_face:

Does it pick up again after that?

Aye it is (just googled it)

It’s a mixed bag and the best mix in the bag was the first episode and the worst was possibly the second but some of it is fairly decent.
