There’s a definite change on Trust and onwards, but I’d hardly call it going downhill.

No love for Secret Name round here? My favourite album by a short nose. Their first Kranky album, perfect Albini production. And for me the sweet spot between the classic, glacial sound that @incandenza mentions before they became much more expansive (I absolutely hated the Dinosaur Act single when it came out - and it hasn’t grown on me since, although TWLITF is mainly great (obviously)). And it has Two Step on it, their best song.

@Yvash Christmas = 10/10 .

Find it odd that Trust is getting scores that are so low.

Each to their own innit.

Never got on with Canada and Candy Girl.
Everything else on it is good to great though.

Yeah Candy Girl is a slog. I like Canada on its own but its a bit jarring after the opener. 7 of the last 10 tracks are golden though.

Nice one Tom! Nice one.

John Prine?

Yes, great shout.
That’s 3 songs on a 13 track album. Would have been an easy fix.
A pity, because there is tremendous stuff on there too.

I think The Lamb is also a dirgey borefest.

I’m not throwing away any more Low songs
There will be no sacrifical lamb added to my Trust cull.

Those are the 4 poor tracks for me. Cutting it to 9 would be fine really, though you cut get away with The Lamb in the middle of a more condensed album

I think this is true of all Low albums for me, with the exception of Double Negative. Each of them have always had skippable tracks, so i’ve always had ‘versions’ of Low albums that I listen to that prune some of the fat to really get to the good stuff.

There’s no fat on DN, though. It’s absolutely perfect as it is. Hence my favourite Low album now.

The Son & The Sun + Dancing & Fire is a bit of a slog after a couple listens for me.

Hah! Dancing & Fire is one of my favourites!
