Flying Glasgow to Luton and Luton to Glasgow tomorrow.
The username delivers!
All liquids need to be less than 100ml and kept in a clear plastic bag for quick inspection, separated from your hand luggage when going through security. Something to do with some liquids being combined to make explosives but really it’s just part of the theatre from the authorities trying to convince you there is a permanent threat and that they’re doing an effective job of keeping you safe.
Just makes it a bit more effort when you have to assemble your bomb once you get air-side, 100ml at a time.
The real shit is all in my shoes anyway.
Been to Luton once. Stayed in a budget hotel near a pub called The Sportsman. Knocked on my boss’s hotel room and asked to borrow £100. He only had his boxers on and made me sit through a full episode of You’ve Been Framed before handing over the bunse. Weird as fuck. Went to an Irish pub and drank until we were sick, missed work and had to get a train home. Horrendous. Sacked.
Great post.
This is Hemingway
Glasgow airport: also fine. Bit less fine than Stansted, much more fine than Luton.
The fuck are you people expecting from an airport experience anyway?!
My overriding memory of Glasgow Airport is that I saw a kid (about 10 I think) in the departures lounge with CR7 shaved into his head.
You have picked your audience well for this football-centric anecdote, Steved.
Have to get up at 4.45am for the pleasure too.
Glasgow airport has a spoons so it’s okay in my books. I know spoons is tory, but at an airport it’s ok.
No idea why anyone would have been to City Airport if they weren’t a Tory.
Tom Waits should make an atmospheric spoken-word album out of this post, and this other one.
A spoken-word EP anyway.
@disintegrationstate ?
Was looking for flights to New York at one point about a year ago, and weirdly the BA business class only service from City popped up as one of the cheapest direct options (if you booked via the Iberia website) on the dates I was looking at. That would’ve been the full Tory experience.
Greatly enjoyed City
I can get from my front door to departures in about 30 minutes. Sadly, the flights are nearly always cheaper at Stansted.
That’s not really a direct flight as it stops in Shannon (Ireland) where you have to disembark and re-board. The benefit is that they have US Customs there, so you avoid the queues at JFK.
Yeah, it’s like 45 mins at Shannon on the way for fuel and customs which probably saves an hour at the other end. It’s non-stop on the way home though.
