M83/Anthony Gonzalez

This is the type of M83 sound I love. Not got on with anything since Saturday’s=Youth.

Funny. I really don’t like this as thought it was far more of the newer sound. I really wish he embraced the dance sound that he flirted with in S=Y.

I wonder if he’ll do anything for the 20th anniversary of Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts as well this year

Would suspect not given that was the last album co-written by him and Fromageau but who knows :woman_shrugging:

You reckon? I’ve just found the later stuff to be overtly 80’s/cheese and really put me off them. I suppose I’m just hoping for another Dead Cities…

The word is he’s dropping the first 6 tracks off his new album tomorrow. Kind of like what Beach House did with their last album! I’m ready!

Nice this. Big Hurry Up… type sounds, sadly no big stand out but pretty consistently lovely.

It’s more like after the dawn heals us for me but yeah it sounds like a big return to form, and after the Dawn heals us is my favourite M83 album

Enjoyed these. Feels quite safe territory but it’s back to the nice big anthemic synthy stuff that he’s great at. Earth to See in particular is great

Album’s out today. I’ve got the day off work so I’m going to be old school and go and grab the CD rather than listening to a stream first!

New album is really enjoyable. Lots of ideas and many of the tracks start and finish in different directions. Can hear elements from previous albums here but seems to be done in a less glitzy way, which I prefer. Favourite track at the moment is Laura. It’s got Sax!

If Fantasy isn’t in my top 10 at the end of the year I’ll be amazed (and glad there’s 10 more albums I like more). After a few disappointments from much anticipated releases this year so far, M83 has delivered exactly the album I wanted them to. Absolute return to form.
