it’s a banger, though this beats the studio version for me

Same here - very pleasantly surprised

Planet Telex
The National Anthem

Street Spirit

Have never, ever heard this song.

Yeah, the bit around 2:20 where everything except the synth and the drums drop out gets me every time. I was there and it was one of the highlights. An absolutely life-defining gig.

it’s good. HTTT is underrated imo.

Genuinely don’t think I’ve ever listened to it the whole way through. I think I own at least two copies of it on CD, including the special edition.

Guess you’ll have to stop taking Go To Sleep as a command

Just relistened to it yesterday when putting together my best off. Think I just kinda desmissed it at the time as I was hoping for the bends 2 or something. But it’s actually really good. Odd how it’s the forgotten album of the discography. Maybe I’d cut a song or two off or switch in one or two of the b sides , but overall probably my second or third favorite of theirs. Also love the album art concept , though I’d take out the gimmicky songs having sub titles.

i got into them properly just after it came out (from watching their Glastonbury 03 set on TV) so i’ve got a real fondness for it. same with a lot of my friends, i remember one of my friends being really surprised a few years ago when i mentioned that a lot of people don’t rate it.

This is incredibly difficult. Tried to come up with a top ~20 to begin with and the top 10 is very OKC/Kid A/Amnesiac heavy.

Go on then - after much deliberation and a lot of listening today to validate my choices I will go with…

Fake Plastic Trees
Paranoid Android
Let Down
Exit Music
The National Anthem
Idioteque
You and Whose Army?
I Might Be Wrong
There There
Punch Up At A Wedding
Videotape
True Love Waits

A staggering back catalogue. I personally can’t believe Idioteque isn’t on more lists but as mentioned up thread great to see the variety of tracks chosen across people’s lists.

Rushed this without thinking about it too much

if i was allowed non-studio cuts then i’d have thrown in The National Anthem from the I Might Be Wrong live EP

wasn’t there but taped it off the TV. only knew a few songs beforehand. didn’t have BBC3 so only got the to see the bits BBC2 showed but Where I End was the first song of their portion of the coverage

Totally agree with The Numbers and that performance of it. Although me 20 years ago may not have liked it so much. It suits me and my head space these days. Its also one of the few RH my wife will like me having on as oppose to just tolerate.

Could easily have a “second disc” without any step down in quality.

Chronological - representing all studio albums from The Bends on. An unrestricted top 12 might look different, but I think this is pretty solid.
