I think Pinkerton will stand up because there is a self awareness there, Rivers is not an aspirational character, he is singing about how flawed he is, and it ends with him apologising and withdrawing, the album is named after lieutenant Pinkerton a complete scumbag that rivers presumably relates too. Think it often gets talked about as just male self pity, but I think it’s deeper than that, seems to be also about him struggling with darker side of himself and that kind of honesty is rare, that’s what makes it a special album. Having said that across the sea is pretty cringe

Nice there’s atoeast one more person who posts in a Weezer thread that, isn’t just posting to say how shit they think they are.

I don’t even dare look in the actual Weezer thread. I don’t know why people even take the the time to post just to say it’s total shit and they’ve haven’t liked an album since Pinkerton. If there was a band who i thought hadn’t released a good song for 25 years , I don’t think I’d take the time to click on thread about them.

I will agree with the people to whom you refer in one regard… the first two albums are the best (for me, anyway). But the idea that they’ve done nothing of worth since is ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with people complaining about a band they used to love going bad, I’d argue complaining about complaining is just as bad (complaining about complaining about complaining is fine though)
