…so they’re as bad as you are?

20 minutes and 50% more songs worse in fact!

Sliver’s an A-side m8

Ah, I apologise. It can stay in.

i definitely much prefer the later albums over the earlier ones which some people might disagree with. had to leave off my favourite though (Poor Queen) cos i already had two Mutilator tracks that felt more essential

Fully irked so:

  1. Captains’s Dead
  2. Drinker’s Peace
  3. Over the Neptune / Mesh Gear Fox
  4. Gleemer
  5. I Am a Scientist
  6. Game of Pricks
  7. Man Called Aerodynamics
  8. Sad If I Lost It
  9. Things I Will Keep
  10. Everywhere With Helicopter
  11. The Best of Jill Hives
  12. Huffman Prairie Flying Fields

Oof. I very much prefer the Incesticide Aneurysm.

Different drinks for different…needs, I guess.

It’s a better recording for sure but there’s something rawer about the b-side version.

This is good. Everywhere with Helicopter really stands out.

(Full disclosure, I am somewhat familiar with the band thanks to my wife and have heard Half Smiles of the Decomposed a lot as well as Bee Thousand a fair few times. )

Half Smiles is pretty great, Raincloud is one of their least appreciate songs, Girls of Wild Strawberries is gorgeous and Huffman was the perfect song to end their “final” album (lol).

Any other than especially appeal? I’m obsessed so any excuse to recommend them is welcomed.

This was very difficult. Chronological order, tried to cover their whole career, but as they have more than 12 albums it was…difficult. Don’t like the sharp stylistic switch between Denton and No Children, but it’s probably impossible to avoid without swapping one of them out or choosing more than one song per album, neither of which I want to do.

I’m going to do Titus Andronicus because The Most Lamentable Tragedy really delivered today and Patrick Stickles is a genius.

  • Arms Against Atrophy
  • Upon Viewing Brueghel’s “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”
  • Titus Andronicus
  • A More Perfect Union
  • Richard II or Extraordinary Popular Dimensions and the Madness of Crowds (Responsible Hate Anthem)
  • The Battle of Hampton Roads
  • Ecce Homo
  • Upon Viewing Oregon’s Landscape with the Flood of Detritus
  • Fired Up
  • Dimed Out
  • Into the Void ( Filler )

11 songs, 59 minutes. It was very tempting to exchange The Battle of Hampton Roads for two (“She Said / She Said” and “Albert Camus” possibly) given its length and room for an extra song, but it’s truly essential and any list without it would be incomplete. What a band.

I’ve done a Dillinger Escape Plan playlist…

Found this incredibly hard. Tried to find a balance between all of their albums. I could’ve doubled the length and still found it really hard to decide.

Tracklist:

  1. Panasonic Youth
  2. 43% Burnt
  3. Milk Lizard
  4. When I Lost My Bet
  5. Sugar Coated Sour
  6. Good Neighbor
  7. Sunshine The Werewolf
  8. Manufacturing Discontent
  9. Lurch
  10. Prancer
  11. Baby’s First Coffin
  12. One Of Us Is The Killer

Think this is decent, well done. I’d have included Wanting Not So Much To As To because I’ve been listening to it a lot and it’s great.

Was going to do mewithoutYou but Brother Sister isn’t on Spotify(?) so here’s a best of The Twilight Sad. 12 tracks, just a smidge over the hour. A lovely, cheery bunch of snappy pop songs for you to get you in the mood for going out for a night on the town or maybe to be played a family bbq.

  1. Reflection of the Television
  2. That Summer, At Home I Became the Invisible Boy
  3. Last January
  4. I Could Give You All That You Don’t Want
  5. I Became a Prostitute
  6. Alphabet
  7. Nil
  8. Nobody Want’s To Be Here & Nobody Wants To Leave
  9. There’s A Girl In The Corner
  10. Cold Days from the Birdhouse
  11. And She Would Darken The Memory
  12. 3 Seconds of Dead Air

mods…

yeah Brother, Sister not being on Spotify is a constant source of distress for me. might re-buy it on iTunes just so I have it on my phone…

(seeing them on Monday, ahhhhh)

Envious. Was hoping they’d do more A>B shows around the Paramore dates. Hopefully they’ll be back.

Also, best album innit? Why isn’t it there?

Catch For Us… just edges it for me, but yeah it’s a pretty special album. It’s on Tooth & Nail same as the others so… no idea why it isn’t there!
