Merchandise was an also ran for my best of. Also realised well after the fact that Brendan 1 should’ve been in there… around about track 4

Was going to do Soundgarden. It’s impossible so maybe someone else will do it

Here’s a shot at Soundgarden done very quickly (apparently, that means an 36 minutes). 12 songs, exactly an hour. A lot of classics left off, and I tried to weigh the big three fairly evenly.

  • Outshined
  • Slaves and Bulldozers
  • Jesus Christ Pose
  • Let Me Drown
  • The Day I Tried to Live
  • Fresh Tendrils
  • 4th of July
  • Like Suicide
  • Ty Cobb
  • Tighter and Tighter
  • Overfloater
  • An Unkind

Some thoughts:

  • I think the only thing I’m not 100% sold on is the Ty Cobb + Overfloater combination, but through no fault its own. This is a time limit one, plus those two show their versatility. There’s a massive list of combinations that could have taken its place (Rusty Cage + Mailman for instance, but Superunknown is already dominating the list).
  • Superunknown is truly incredible.
  • No early stuff, again through no fault of its own, it’s just that what came later is so incredible.
  • King Animal doesn’t exist.

Deftones and Sigur Ros are killing me right now. Might be the hardest two of all.

Not a bad effort. I tried but started with the first 4 tracks from Badmotorfinger as i think that’s the best 4 track opening to an album ever. So many great tracks, I didn’t know where to go next.

Trouble with Sigur Ros is they have some lengthy songs.

Yeah, I almost went with Rusty Cage through Face Pollution, but Down on the Upside would have only had one or two songs if I had done that. That’s still by far the most relentless opening sequence of any album I’ve ever heard.

was gonna try Mogwai but wouldn’t be able to fit enough on it
