I know, it’s a bit daft, but there a few albums I don’t know that well (Long Division, Secret Name, Trust) so I feel if a proper Low fan challenged me I’d look silly (not convincing myself with this argument tbh).

Should be due a new album soon I hope, over two years since Ones and Sixes…

Trust is an absolute delight!

I was thinking that too, fingers crossed. The Union Chapel organ set consisted of around 12 new pieces, that I believe were drafts for a new LP transposed to the organ. They sounded great on the night so hopefully they are putting them to tape as we speak (they have a decent gap in schedule that would allow recording for sure).

I’ve given Trust a go…and honestly it was probably the first time I was bored by a Low album…but I will definitely give it another go.

Do you think they were just adapted for the live show…or is there a super exciting prospect of a Low organ album? How good would that be?

It is quite back loaded (although Amazing Grace is stunning too), but I found it pretty immediate. Give it another shot.

That would be incredible. And as you said up-thread they are quite unpredictable in their sound, within the confines of the genre of course. Anything is possible!

Not a single artist as such…but the main bands associated with Spencer Krug (sorry Frog Eyes/Swan Lake/Fifths of Seven)

Some difficult cuts:

Language City
Kissing the Beehive
Apollo and the Buffalo
The Empty Threats of Little Lord
I’ll Believe in Anything (probably the most “glaring” omission…but it’s a bit overrated IMO)
Baby Blue, from their last album, is good too, but that album doesn’t need representing.

<3 Krug so much! You have good taste.

Haha…another sub-thread to go down…

On the subject of Krug, in some interviews I’ve read he’s always stated how open he is to return to projects (be that Wolf Parade, Moonface, Frog Eyes and even Swan Lake at one point)…but not Sunset Rubdown. I don’t know if there’s been any fallout there but its a real shame. Even though, with Moonface, he can practically do what he wants musically, I thought he sounded at his most free and creative with SR. Dragonslayer is one of my favourite albums.

I get this impression too, which is devastating as I never saw SR and adore them (Dragonslayer is absolutely perfect).

The flexibility this ever evolving Moonface moniker affords him is truly wonderful. That Organ Music, Julia and the two Siinai collaborations all being released under the same name is incredible. I was actually disappointed when Wolf Parade came back (not by the material or their shows, both the EP and LP are excellent), because I need to hear where he goes next.

He is also as charming to speak to as his music portrays.

On balance, considering how implausible it would be, a SR gig is probably top of my wishlist for any live show I could see. Sadly, it seems very unlikely.

Wasn’t blown away by either the EP or album unfortunately, so I’m even more keen for him to get back to Moonface (are you a fan of the Dreamland EP? I hope he does one day make a vibraphone album…like he hoped). Despite that…I did just post in the EOTR thread that a Wolf Parade headline set would be fantastic.

Have you met him then? That’s good to hear, he does seem to be pretty ego-free, and has a good ethos with his work.

If you like dreamy ethereal music, with a twist of post-punk (in their earlier albums/EPs), you won’t be disappointed. I think this is one of my better attempts at a Best Of. There is so much more to be enjoyed than what’s on here though, so much

I’m making my way through it today  (along with the Electronic listening club album)…after that…which albums are best to start with? (I have heard Heaven or Las Vegas once or twice…so I would like something completely new)

Btw, Blind Dumb Deaf is a brilliant song

Only changes I’d make would be to go with the album version of Terrible Love (I actually prefer it) and put Geese in somewhere (glaring omission).

yeah leaving Geese out was a horrible one for me

I’d say Head Over Heels (my favourite) -> Treasure -> Blue Bell Knoll -> Garlands. If you like what you hear give the rest a go. Outside of Heaven or Las Vegas Treasure is, in most quarters, regarded as their other stone cold classic.

Oh try Garlands first maybe if you like Blind Dumb Deaf. It’s their most gritty post-punk album for sure followed by Head Over Heels

I’d have to agree. Luckily over the years I’ve seen almost everyone I could want to, with a massive SR shaped hole.

They really struck with me. When the EP came out I was working a longish stint away from home and it just connected while sitting in a drab hotel room. The LP i just really enjoyed, but admittedly haven’t played for a fair while.

I do like the Dreamland EP, I grab it far less than Organ Music but always feel rewarded when I give it a spin.

Only very briefly when he played with Siinai in Hoxton. He was just very humble and didn’t seem in a rush to leg it (that was probably more me).

Also, their EPs are totally worth spending time with. Pearly-dewdrops’ Drops might be my favourite song they ever did

EPs are really good for getting into a band, I find, so I might just do that. Cheers

It doesn’t surprise me that he was humble…I genuinely believed that if he picked one of his “projects” (most likely Wolf Parade) he could be a lot bigger…but that’s clearly not for him.
