yesss! my 4 year olds favourite film at the moment, sometimes he just wont get ready in the morning until i play the theme tune on spotify, and occasionally he’ll come out with
which is insanely funny but weve told him not to say it in nursery

new ipad has a USB-C charger, not lightning, and the charger cable that comes with it is USB-C to USB-C. i have USB to lightning, USB to mini USB, and USB to USB-C already plugged into the socket next to my bed. the USB to USB-C charger cable is for a little portable phone charger that will just sit on the floor while its charging but the ipad, im going to want that in bed right? so i had to get a new charger block thing, you know the plug with the USB ports in? so i found one that has two USB ports and two USB-C ports. anyway then amazon was like hey check this shit out, the same but in pink. so i bought the pink one, in a very flippant way

Got the audio player from the same company

opened it on the train on saturday. seemed to enthrall people. guy sat opposite told me original sony walkmen headphones were orange like I didnt know. the woman sat next to me took a photo because she wanted get them for her kids.
plays lossless flac files. probably confirmation bias but it does seem to sound better, just little details I didnt know I missed. have been listening before I go to bed the last couple of days and it has been weirdly relaxing, just paying attention to the music i’m listening to, picking up the device and realising there is nothing to distract me. arrived the same day as my non-so-smart phone, compliment each other well
couple of minor criticisms:
- updated to the latest firmware and it shows cover art but only while playing. I would prefer if it was there while browsing, as I like the idea of browsing my own collection, and I want the tape animation while playing as that is the main point of this device
- I dont know if the firmware update fixed this, but it orders tracks by when they were copied to the device not album order. not too hard to workaround, just zip up the album songs in order and unzip directly on the device
- slight gap between tracks. I read someone said this doesnt happen with a fast sd card and i’m only using the built in storage
- think the proportions are wrong based on the tape reels, if it was blown up to full cassette size the device would be bigger than even their earliest walkmen
edit: now I am on a mission to digitise my old CDs as flac files, and buying more recent albums on bandcamp, might even buy some favourites as 24 bit files from hdtracks. reckon if neil young had made the pono player like an old walkman and not a toblerone it may have succeeded

Even with those headphones? Cos I had quite a few pairs of similar looking headphones back in the 80s, and none of them were any good. I’d have thought to get the benefits of lossless you’d need headphones that shut out all other noise?

i’ve been using these and my sennheiseser momentum. both sound really good, but at night there are no other noises to block out. I probably am imagining the improvement, and it is probably that I am listening in a more focused way, and comparing to low quality streaming when I am out and about. I am surprised about the headphones though, as I got them completely for the look expecting them to sound awful but they sound really good

Forgot to update this thread but the small flippant purchase I made on March 10th as per the instructions was a small figurine of Marcel from Marcel the Shell With Shoes on which I am planning to secretly place in different locations in our new home when we move there in May on accounts of how my partner loved that film and she might find it charming.
