Did 'An Elephant Sitting Still ’ last night. A hair off four hours of people trudging round being miserable. Quite enjoyed it.
yeah the Lighthouse is wild also watched Les Miserables (not that one) and thought it was really good, maybe missing some depth in characterisation of the supporting characters but the 3 cops were all really well realised and acted. strong Do the Right Thing vibes but feels like its own film

I was really disappointed with Portrait of a Lady on Fire. I think the misleading trailer really didn’t help this though.

Dark Waters - Extremely “my shit”. If a film has at least two scenes of a person sorting an unmanageable amount of files and/or studiously looking through a printed document and then circling a key word (which you don’t know what it means) then I am very much in. It’s kind of a very straightforward version of a thing I love but it’s still a thing I love. Ruffalo is fine, Anne Hathaway is low-key excellent and who the fuck doesn’t love seeing “The Two Bills”!? Good stuff.
If only Bill Paxton was still alive, could have had the three Bills

Yeah he was great. It’s a real “playing the hits” performance in terms of the archetype of the character but he nails every beat.
