Can see why you found juliet a tough watch but I loved the music, couldn’t get it out of my head afterwards

i really don’t remember this. what did it say?

Yeah I was surprised by how much it annoyed me, not entirely sure why

Well, its written poetically but still seemed to unnecessary and makes it too concrete for me (though I didn’t like the film and was bored/irritated by this point). Putting it in spoilers for no real reason

He remembers those vanished years. As though looking through a dusty window pane, the past is something he could see, but not touch. And everything he sees is blurred and indistinct.

Boo!

It’s not too bad, just felt like, c’mon man we can see that, and it kinda robs other interpretations of their validity. Also found it strange as one of the only other films I’ve seen by him is the Ashes of Time redux which is pretty confusing and makes no attempt to explain itself whatsoever

Ha, maybe I was in the wrong mood (for something other than love)

ashes of time is just a mess tbh. you should watch chungking express if you fancy giving him another go. though if you find yourself irritated by repetitive music choices you may struggle.

Oh yeah I have actually seen Chungking Express, forgot about it… I remember really liking it!

Ashes of Time felt like it was halfway to being a masterpiece, but yeah was quite a mess… That’s more interesting to me than In the Mood for Love though

I love In the Mood for Love, the only bad thing about it is I can’t honestly believe anyone would be stupid enough to cheat on Maggie Cheung.

Chungking Express is one of the greatest films ever.

@cinemaparadisocrew just seen the message saying they’re sending out extra discs because of slow postage :sunglasses: :film_projector:

I don’t think I’ve had this message, how many extra discs?

Its on the website, double the number you would usually get.

Think I just missed out on this as I have a couple already on the way, better get em watched quick so I can get another 4

hooboy, i’m excited for/about that.

Banged on Contagion tonight for obvious reasons. Was pretty flippin’ heavy (the first act at least); for some reason I’d gone into it expecting a fully dumbshit I Am Legend apocalypto with lots of Matt Damon lenging down zombies. Lots of the first act was cutting way too close to home so it was a relief when they binned off some of the science chat in favour of a wee bit of stock apocalypse halfway through.
Ending was weird.
Not I Am Legend/10

And what did you think of Jude Law’s funny tooth?

Just watched The Platform

Very, VERY subtle social commentary, this. Also quite gross

Watched Wild Goose Lake this afternoon. Chinese gangster / noir movie from the same lad who made Black Coal, Thin Ice. Decent/10, some really good set pieces but collapses under all its own twists by the end. Leaves Mubi tonight, so hurry up if you fancy it.
