I once got told to take my degree off my CV to not “put employers off”

The same woman also tried to insist I apply for a job as an a-level Italian teacher despite not speaking fluent Italian.

My word.

Seriously though, solidarity. I remember how soul-destroying it was, and I hope you find something soon. Just try to let this bullshit stuff wash over you as much as you can.

I had a similar experience in Tower Hamlets in 2001

after 3 months signing on they offered me a job at Tower Hamlets Job Centre

Hilariously I tried to go down that route too, only (to my embarrassment) I didn’t read the letter inviting me to a basic literacy and numeracy test well enough and turned up at the Job Centre rather than the local FE college. They were probably right to tell me that if I couldn’t get that right then I probably wasn’t a good fit, but still…

I see you’re quite good at this looking for work business. Have you considered going into finding other people work?

Lol fucking hell

Edit: weird, headline was different on the app. Basically UK is unilaterally extending the grace period, which is apparently a violation of the treaty

On a related note

This does not sound good

So I read on twitter the reactions to the First Minister’s (of Scotland) evidence yesterday and it is clear that the Yoons and the Indies are going down political lines as expected, frothing about SHE MUST RESIGN! and NOTHING TO. SEE HERE when it’s kinda in the middle - Salmond had criticisms over the way it was handled that probably are fair, and that the ScotGov shat it over reaching in a reaction to MeToo… but that he was an alleged despicable bastard and there is zero conspiracy.

Anyway, was wondering if this had penetrated with my non politically plugged in pals who are voting and the answer was No. So there is that.

Oh look @90% of the Towns fund has gone to Tory MP’s constituencies again.

90% of constituencies will have Tory MPs after the next election tbf.

Doesn’t seem like a massive surprise. My gut feeling is that cities mostly voted Labour in 2019 and towns/rural areas mostly voted Tory. So deprived Tory towns in the Midlands, North and Yorkshire are going to be more likely to receive this money. Maybe I’m wrong.

True that, just assumed the airport had it sewn up because it was such a big issue for the regional mayor.

not a huge surprise to be fair, hardcore loyalists don’t tend to be a big fan of it anyway (the DUP opposed it at the time), though these days coming out and saying it is usually regarded as bad optics. Brexit has provided an excuse though i guess.
