Oh well, at least you got to sit in a nice wooden stand. :man_shrugging:

First was this one. Yes, the Davide Gualtieri after 7 seconds one. Think it had a huge impact on my tragicomic, what’s the worst that could happen view of the world.

These were the first five I actually went to. No, really.

@roughyed First away game! IIRC Marlon Beresford managed to break his ankle and get himself sent off at the same time.

Just having an imagination Scotland getting their pants pulled down party

Can’t believe I didn’t get the spuds or wet spam!!!

haha seems absolutely crazy now to think you used to only get 2 points for a win. Why would you even bother?

They keep retrieving the ball after every goal… did they need a high goal difference or something?

Yes. Think England had to win by seven clear goals to qualify but also hope Holland lost to Poland. Which they didn’t. I’m kind of grateful to the Dutch for that, could not have imagined how gutted I’d have been if we’d have missed out on USA 94 by a goal to San bastarding Marino.

Though maybe the damage had been done already as @aboynamedgoo might testify! Spot the “how wasn’t that a red…”

That San Marino v England night was insane. Think it was the same one as when Paul Bodin missed that penalty v Romania, France missed out on qualifying right at the death v Bulgaria and Valderrama and Asprilla’s Colombia won 5-0 in Buenos Aires.

Mostly… no. Especially as United had just hit a stride that was going to bring us in The Treble – as the history books will no doubt remember.

On the plus side, I do waste every other evening and a large proportion of the weekend watching football, so it’s nice to do some reading, watch some films, play some games etc. which would sat untouched otherwise.

If, for some reason, you want to relive the campaign, the Impossible Job is on YouTube in full.

Always find the odd international break, second summer off, quite refreshing but in the absence of anything else at all and the timing of it I don’t think I’ve ever missed it more

Well that’s easy. The greatest FA cup semi final of all time.

I have literally no structure in my life without it and am dreading every weekend spent shut in the flat with no football to watch or cinema to go to.

Earliest memory of a game being on in the house was the Italia 90 final.

Earliest memory of a game I was paying attention to was Portugal 5-0 Scotland. Ally McCoist broke his leg after all substitutions had been made so Scotland had to finish the game with ten men. My expectations have remained low ever since.

Seaman :frowning:

Thank Jimmy Hill for that one. He proposed it to encourage more attacking football and it was introduced in the English game in 1981 - first country to do so. Germany and Spain didn’t introduce it until 1995.
