Yeh, just wanted to say this is terribly sad news. In my opinion spirit of Eden and laughing stock are 2 near perfect albums. Very sad

Yes, it’s a beautiful album.

Have somehow not heard this news until now. Shit.
Spirit Of Eden, Laughing Stock & his solo album are unbelievable records.

Heartbreaking…for me, like many other people, Talk Talk’s rich music spoke to me in a very deep way…what a legacy of incredible music he leaves behind for us and future generations - rest in peace Mark

Haven’t read it yet, but there’s a piece up on the Quietus

Shit they posted back to front - think this is apparently his last print interview - Wire, 1998.

Have never listened to Talk Talk before, just put on The Colour of Spring. Fucking hell, one of the best first album listens ever. Am looking forward to digging in further.

Part of me hopes there is a massive Prince-like vault of unreleased Hollis material which will someday be released posthumously but on the other hand his solo and the final TT albums were so perfectly formed that it’s completely unnecessary. RIP Mark.

Ha I had a similar experience this week

Listening to Spirit of Eden on my commute this morning. The dynamic flow of The Rainbow is just ludicrous.

Why don’t you make posts like this?

I’d never been able to get into Talk Talk.

I always found their music incredibly meandering-filled and boring.

And I kind of feel that way still about many of the songs from Spirit of Eden and Colour of Spring. But after hearing “New Grass” yesterday, I am coming around a bit.

I would still be surprised if I ever get won over the way so many of the glowing comments about them claim, but I can at least now follow their appeal.

Also The Tea Party’s cover of Life’s What You Make It is awesome.

RIP Mark Hollis.

Did anyone see the bloke from the band on Twitter (I can’t remember what they were called and can’t find it)? He said that they shared the same management and that a reunion was sort of in the works.

Can’t see it happening now
