I’m starting to agree. Surprisingly enough I think this would make quite a good film concept 2 and a bit and done but, as a TV show this week’s bits in Westview felt very much like filler for the most part.

oh lord, getting actually good X-Men films was such an enticing prospect, I really hope they’re not just importing the bin fire fox films.

Dunno if anybody else noticed but there was a child’s drawing of the Pride flag in the kitchen at one point. It would be nice if they actually gave us an out and explicitly gay Billy with a gay romance being a central point of a Young Avengers show/movie… But yeah this is Marvel, who made Captain Marvel which was so obviously written with Carol and Maria being a couple before the editors came in and stamped a big nope on it, and this show went and killed Maria before they could ever meet again so not exactly getting my hopes up lol

well we know they’re using maguire in spidey and we know that he won’t be the actual canon spiderman, so i think we’re safe. all of this is gearing up to allow the Strange film to go headlong into this with a ton of different marvel iterations, same with the spidey film, so hopefully even if they do bring over some of the x-men cast they’ll not need to import everyone once the dust is settled. please please please please. Also like you hope they give billy the plot, and sexuality, he needs to capture the spirit of what they did in the comics

There is a gay rebel in Rise of Skywalker but its so fleeting its bullshit. Jack Whitehall is supposed to be playing a gay man in Jungle Cruise too I believe.

They made a big thing about having the first “exclusively gay moment” in that piece of shit Beauty & The Beast film, which nobody could even work out which bit that was supposed to be until the relevant scene got edited out in certain foreign markets… It was about a 0.5 second clip where Josh Gadd accidentally bumps into another man and smiles at him. SERIOUSLY.

Tessa Thompson said she was explicitly bisexual in the filming of it but that didn’t make it into the final film, so just Disney making sure that absolutely zero gay shit makes it into any of their films again.

There was the scene in the support group at the start of Endgame (I think?) where a guy refers to his husband, I think it was deliberately fudged though so you couldn’t see his lips at that exact moment so they could dub it for different markets

I had forgotten about all those weird castings of other Spider-Mans and associated, just looked up and turns out they seem to be bringing back like everybody from every Spider-Man film ever? Weird. Me I can live without them bringing up the old X-Men movies, they ended in disgrace and while the first few were good in their time they’ve probably aged really badly… except Logan which is poggers. Would rather Marvel’s X-Men is allowed to completely be its own thing. Spider-Man is a bit different for me because Marvel’s is already well established, and there’s been like 4 big screen Spider-Mans at this point anyway.

Enjoyed the latest Wandavision, however the new / different Pietro thing is quite difficult to explain to someone who’s only a casual watcher of Marvel stuff (and I’m not super hardcore). Mrs HYG was flat out “who is that”.

Saw Art Brut live a few years back and they changed the lyrics of ‘DC comics and chocolate milkshake’ to ‘Marvel comics and strawberry milkshake’ because Jamie McKelvie was in the crowd. Would love it if they adapt Young Avengers at some point.
