Something I wonder about the Marvel/Sony agreement; would Sony have had Miles and Gwen anyway or did Marvel let them have those characters in exchange for the rest of the Spider-Man stuff? ie Did Sony’s contract give them all Spider Man stuff existing for as long as they have the rights, or just the stuff created before they bought the rights?

Yeah, it was a bit sucky that, but it’s superhero comics so no one stays dead. It also spent too long in the second act because it’s superhero comics and that’s what they do

When they break that with stuff like Hawkeye and Mister Miracle, you get something amazing.

Aaron’s run was probably too long, sure, but at its peaks it was the just the best. Maybe better than Straczynski. Maybe.

So are they’ve only two films out next year and not three? Or might they put something in the Feb 2020 slot still?

ooh is that maybe why they edited out the name miles in the version of homecoming thats on netflix?

Only two - Guardians 3 was meant to be one of them when they still had three dates on the schedule.

He wasn’t mentioned by name in the cinema version.

Just want to make sure I’m reading this correct. No Marvel film until Black Widow in May 2020? Isn’t that a huge gap?

Also surprised Disney execs gave the ok to the seemingly imbalance of top tier characters in this line up. Thor seems fairly alone in Phase 4 with Phase 5 over stacked with Spider-Man, Black Panther, Guardians, Captain Marvel, Blade, Fantastic 4 aaaand X-Men? Think of all that dosh they’ll be rolling in come 2022-2024. :scream:

Disney already have Frozen 2 and Star Wars at the end of the year so I imagine they’d rather let those make hay then anyway.

Oooh. Taskmaster is in Black Widow.

There was a third release date (in Feb I think?) for a Marvel film next year but it disappeared after Guardians 3 went on hiatus. That would’ve matched the pattern with last and this year’s releases.

I don’t think this is all of phase 4. Feige has said a couple of times that they’re going to avoid massive announcements like the phase 3 one because they just change too much. I’m guessing this is just the first half and it’ll round out at about 3/4 years worth again.

Considering GotG 1 made over $700mil and Black Panther/Captain Marvel both cracked the $1bil mark I don’t think anyone cares which characters Marvel uses. The Marvel brand alone on a movie is a license to shit money.

Far from Home is gonna crack $1bn this week probs as well, which is well up on Homecoming and getting into Sam Raimi (if adjusted) territory.
