How do you get your painting flat and even? I am inherently not neat even when I am trying my hardest.
I use masking tape, Ronald.
I mean, they obviously prefer sun during the day, but total storm nightmares at night. Like, ‘Sun during day, roofers at play, rain, wind at night, roofers delight’ or something. Probably close to their official motto
Or do you mean flat to the wall?
I use a roller, Ronald.
That explains the sharp lines but what about the evenness of cover like the pros get? Why wont you tell me?
I assume you mean on the cutting in (this is what the pros call it yknow)?
A tapered brush, plenty of paint on the brush. Some days I do it OK, others, not so much
Roller and two coats.
stir the paint, use a roller and give it a few rolls in the tray to avoid splattering.
two coats minimum.
For the next Fenino can sadpunk’s polo shirt read ‘two coats minimum’ on the back please?
I use a roller, I have tried several types as well, why is it so difficult! Not tried wearing two coats though how does that help? (HAHAHAHA)
Expensive paint too
Got some of that farrow and ball stuff and it’s a dream with 2 coats!
Had some cheap B&Q shit and did about 5 coats to get it even!
But the pros use the cheap shit and still get it even. I don’t understand how they can be doing it so differently.
^this.
Plus practice how to properly cast off - roll the paint out in a methodical, orthogonal way, making sure that the final stroke in always in the same direction.
there are you tube vids you can look at - starting with big zig zags etc (I think). I always just keep doing coats until it looks bearable
also if you are painting on to new plaster you need to do a mist coat 1st - otherwise you will be in a world of pain
Always sing this to the tune of Carrie and lowell?

This is now the Better Call Saul thread
I watched this episode the other day - it features a whole “bit” on how to remove masking tape without removing paint
What’s Jimmy’s preferred brand? Does it say?
It is Chuck with the strong opinions on masking tape - but he does not specify a brand
