I think I’ve managed to accidentally subscribe twice to BFI Player. Once via The BFI site and then again when trying to access it via my Amazon Fire Stick.

Anyway, I’m about to watch Bergman’s Autumn Sonata (starring Ingrid Bergman).

An amazing film. Maybe had heard of it when looking through both Bergmans’ filmographies but never seen it before. 9/10.

Watched Things To Come (2016). Its good but slightly forgettable. Amazed at how high its score on RT is

is Tremors worth watching?

Absolutely.

Not seen it but I saw The Breakfast Club for the first time recently and found it an utterly miserable experience

Not sure any of these are hidden gems but a couple of friends asked for a list of recs and I sent this:

*Right I have gone through the A-Z but then got half way through the alphabet and figured this was more than enough to get on with. I will do N - Z at some point *

Bait - Cornish drama which is just brilliant, can’t explain it so just watch it
*52 Tuesdays - sweet trans dramam which, as the title suggests, is filmed over a year whilst the lead was transitioning *
Appropriate Behaviour - Smart lesbian comedy drama from the same person that did The Bisexual on Channel 4, if you watched that
*The Arbor - Doc about Andrea Dunbar, done in a very unique way.
Are you proud - Interesting doc about Pride in the UK and its future
Betty Blue - ITS BETTY BLUE!
*Bitter tears of Petra von Kant - very fun camp drama about a fashion designer *
Celine and Julie go Boating - cult classic, also 3 hrs long so perfect for lockdown
Distant Voices Still Lives -ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE
Dogtooth - Sinister drama about a family who are held in their basement by their abusive father. Early film from the guy that went on to do The Favourite, Lobster etc
*Faces - My fave Cassavetes film, tense as fuck *
Fanny and Alexander - another 3 hour one!
*Festen - one of better dogma films *
Girls Lost - body swapping queer drama
Glassland - Really underrated film with Toni Collette and Jack Reyonr
Good morning -Ozu’s charming comedy, if it doesn’t melt your heart you have no soul
The Hunt - Tense paedo drama, was recently a good play
Land and Freedom - ken loach’s best film dont @ me
*My brother the devil - Starts off as a gritty London drama and turns into something very different. Do not read anything about it before seeing it. *
Mysterious Skin - Queer classic, surely you’ve already seen it

No idea what went on with the formatting there sorry

They also have a load of Ozu and Jarman films too

It’s really nice btw!

Yup! Watched it last night. Have only seen this & shoplifters of his - what else should I see?

All of them! But especially

Still Walking
After Life

Thank you hugely.

I’ve seen perhaps half the ones you’ve mentioned and liked them. I’ll make a start on the other half. Tempted by My Brother The Devil purely from the way you’ve described it.

Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t suddenly turn into a musical or anything but it dealt with certain well trodden tropes in a fresh way IMO

Also Hackney looks gorgeous in it.
