Best: Biutiful
Worst: Yesterday

The April Thread had already closed but yeah @roastthemonaspit I watched From the Life of the Marionettes last night too - what a fascinatingly dark character study! Loved it. The Giorgio Moroder esque music used in the peep show scenes properly tickled me though!

Wish I’d caught Autumn Sonata whilst it was still on Mubi now…

Best: Skate Kitchen
Worst: Clouds of Sils Maria

Was considering watching Clouds of Sils Maria to give the director another chance after hating Personal Shopper. Not worth bothering with?

Its on BFI Player (can get a two week trial) FYI

Ooo sweet! Cheers for the heads up :slightly_smiling_face:

BFI Player is great too, think I’ll stick with it as its only a fiver a month.

To be fair, it was the worst film of a good bunch. It started well and then became a bit of a chore. I did enjoy Binoche (obviously) and the beautiful Alpine scenery though.

I would say it was maybe less engaging than Personal Shopper but marginally better over all.

I watched Brave last night, the Disney/Pixar one. It’s not great is it?

Haven’t used it before. How does it differ from say Mubi?

Bigger selection, there isn’t a 30 day rotation like Mubi and lots of rentals too for only £2 / 3 a pop. Easily split into strands too so easy to find something you might be interested in. Has a watch list facility like Netflix too.

She really looked like Rebekah Brooks which put me off.

Ah okay that’s pretty handy to know, ta! I’m quite new to Mubi too but I’ve been quite enjoying the 30 day rotation in a sense that I’m just taking a punt on anything that takes my fancy though on the other hand the anxiety brought on by seeing a film expiring at midnight is very :grimacing:

Bad Trip - Very funny Eric Andre thing. A series of hidden camera pranks wrapped around a plot. First half much better than the second, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Can I put BFI Player on my telly like Mubi? Have one of those Roku box things.

Mousehunt is on Netflix now

Does Lee Evans sweat a lot in it

How do you check what you’ve seen in a month?

Go to diary in mubi and then just count them. Don’t think there’s a way to filter to a particular month

Watched Calm With Horses this morning. Very solid I thought. Nicely understated crime drama that wasn’t too heavy on the crime element. Cosmo Jarvis, Niamh Algar and Barry Keoghan are fantastic. The Irish landscape looks lush and Blanck Mass score works well too. Cosmo Jarvis is an absolute tank.

I don’t want to open old scars but I also watched Snowpiercer last night and it is still fantastic.
