More serious answer: still dunno, but think “coming of age films” reflect the time they are made and set probably more than any genre, so yeah it’s potentially a shortcoming of all of them

Yes I am. Enjoyed it a great deal - there isn’t a single camera shot that hasn’t been designed to stand alone as a great image.

Did we know this was a thing

Joint Security Area - One of the best South Korean films. Highly recommended.

The Hunt - Can’t remember if I posted about this. The politics of it are a bit confused but there is some fun stuff in there. Unfortunately it’s all a bit cheap and awkwardly strung together. That said there is an extremely well choreographed fight at the end, which isn’t unlike The Raid films.

Ooooh

Turns out we did!

I was really close to paying to rent Vertigo on the PlayStation store thingy, and then I saw it’s come on Netflix today. Huzzah.

Haha, that got me too!

(though I would be interested in seeing the remake, purely out of curiosity)

I watched Greener Grass the other day. Anyone seen it?

I thought it was genuinely incredible and fell in love with it. Written and directed by Jocelyn DeBoer, who was the wife in Thunder Road (and also stars Jim Cummings and has similar humour).

It’s been called “David Lynch meets Desperate Housewives”, and it’s a pretty perfect summary.

I watched That Thing You Do (1996). File under: films that definitely didn’t need to be 2 1/2 hours long.

That’s the extended cut apparently, maybe the original 108 minute version is better!

I know Gus Van Sant was a hot property after Good Will Hunting but doing a shot-for-shot remake of Psycho has to rank as one of the most baffling film choices ever.

Water Lilies was just heartbreaking.

For those living in London, London Live show some pretty good British films from yesteryear each day at 1pm.

Worth a look into. Some very good hidden gems there.

If you needed further proof that Richard Curtis is an awful man

Damn, he really is Conner4Real in claiming credit for everything!
