Do you mean in England (strongly agree if so) or worldwide (probably disagree in that case given the state of European football generally before the boom in England and the greed of other superclubs in Spain, Italy, Germany, etc)?

not put that much thought into it but just don’t think it’s healthy for one league to accumulate as much talent as the PL has. the megaclubs are always gonna squid their own leagues and be insulated from it but I reckon e.g. Serie A would be more competitive if clubs like Inter weren’t also having to compete with upper mid table English sides for players

Sure, but i think it’s easy to forget that Serie A was the first squid league in world football and the relative bust it’s suffered since the turn of the century’s a result of massive financial mismanagement and corruption at club, governing body and municipal level.

I’d argue Serie A’s very competitive. For me it’s been the elite league in Europe as recently as two seasons ago. Problem is Juventus have raced so far ahead, largely in part to following an English model rather than an Italian one - owning their own stadium, sponsorship, marketing. Clubs like Inter, Milan and Lazio are struggling because they lack proper infrastructure, i’m not sure anyone could say that about Spurs or Liverpool.

Still can’t process this.
Ajax are very likeable and being completely honest a better team than us/on balance deserved to go through, but having seen spurs players on the floor in bits after having snatched defeat from the jaws of victory quite a few times it’s so so fucking good to be on the other side of it.

Can’t even imagine what I’ll do if we win.

humungous CBA with the Europa. Have cared more in previous years and about the UEFA Cup in general. The last three evenings has possibly been the best trio of football matches I’ve ever seen back to back. Need to refuel before the big day on Sunday when Brighton hold City to a 1-1 draw and Liverpool claim the title.

Dunno whether Liverpool winning the league would impact on the final or not. Probably overthinking it (definitely am) but would they be more likely to be desperate to win the champos if City win the league? Or would they slightly take their foot off the momentum pedals if they won the league. Or would they be pumped for a potential double?
They’ll win anyway but i’m just very excited by it all!

Trying to pretend the last two nights didn’t happen, but one guy in my office is wearing a Tottenham shirt, and another has bought cakes in to celebrate. The final is on my birthday as well. Dreadful.

In Europa League news (anyone?), there are currently no direct flights to Baku for the final, and the cheapest flights that get you to the game on time are £750 quid. Another excellent venue choice from UEFA.

A ludicrous decision. Any nation that would prohibit players from any other nation from entering the country to play the final should absolutely never be selected to host a final.
