I really enjoy going to countries with very different ideas of breakfast food. Curry, fried chicken or grilled tongue and fish roe for breakfast? It’s permissive, but I’ll take it.

Also used to love having a wholesome post night out sit down meal of soup, bread, pickles and hummus at Somine in Dalston.

Imagine eating a croissant in the evening :see_no_evil: couldn’t be me

I can’t remember what they taste like or if I’ve ever had one

Work with someone who has bran flakes with water.
So misery.

When I was in China their breakfast lunch and dinner was all pretty much the same thing which was wonderful because it was all excellent

that sounds perfect for me, I don’t like change, give me the same meal 3 times a day everyday as long as it’s nice

made a large dinner, definitely over ambitious with the potatoes if that’s even a thing

Eat most of my meals at weird times, need to sort it out really. I have a meal planning diary which helps, and I set alarms to remind myself to eat normally but sometimes it’s like :woman_shrugging: I’m a free spirit, maaaaaan.

If I don’t eat enough during the day I’ll sometimes sleep eat. So, like, get up and have a little bowl of cereal or something and then go back to bed. Will go down to the kitchen in the morning and see cornflakes all over the side and a bowl and spoon in the sink with no memory of having eaten it.

Also eat whatever at whatever time. Went through a stage of having microwave fish pies for breakfast, cause they were on sale in Asda so I had like ten in the freezer and would scoff them before work. It was winter tbf, and it’s nice to have a hot meal before walking in the cold.

I was wondering how widespread the idea of eating different sorts of food at different times of day is, like, is it just certain cultures or is the idea of certain foods being breakfast foods universal, even if what is considered breakfast food is different everywhere. This seems to suggest it’s probably not universal.

I think we’re in a minority to have specific breakfast foods

Lots of cultures seem to have typical lunch food as breakfast food, and treat breakfast food (pancakes etc) as a desert or snack. I believe in breakfast can be anything, depends more on the time. Early = very light food, fruit etc, late breakfast = lunch food, breakfast before an important day of focus = slow release energy food etc

in Spain its no breakfast, main meal at lunch, and then something light like a sandwich at around 10. when I moved back to the UK for a year I found it really difficult to adjust to eating a big meal at 6 or 7.
