Usually 1 or 2. Sometimes when I go downstairs for a nighttime wee I’ll keep the lights off (relying on the dim light from streetlights round the back of our house) as I find that this helps me get back to sleep more quickly afterwards. In which case, 2 is the best place to aim as there’s the greatest margin for error. And as the bathroom is downstairs and at the back of the house, there’s no danger of waking others in the house.
