Mercury Music Prize 2022

Little Simz for the win obviously. I’d love to see The Bug nominated, Fire was one of my favourite albums of the last few years.

need a token jazz ensemble in there

Songs are for cowards, production is for the true #gamers

Need to look back on the jazz releases but Nala Sinephro might be a good shout for a nomination (if she qualifies, not sure how long she’s been in the UK).

I have spent too long making music Funky, I’ve been #productionpilled.

These would get my vote (I think they all qualify)

Keeley Forsyth would be cool aye

Kathryn Joseph. Especially if she introduces her song like she did on tour: “Here is a song about an abusive cunt.”

Dave seems a decent shout for the shortlist, I think it came out at the very start of the eligibility period?

Unlikely to be shortlisted but would be good - Pillow Queens

Do Fountains DC qualify? If so, they must be in with a shout.

Yeah, wonder if they put themselves forward

Nilufer Yanya’s one was excellent and she is the sort of artist that could do with a bump up in profile from it.

New Black Midi comes out on deadline day, imagine they’ll be in with a shout. Probably Kae Tempest too.

Didn’t know she was British. Definitely fits the criteria then

She might be too Australian

The Ishmael Ensemble album is a good shout for jazz nominee if eligible - it’s really good. That and Nala Sinephro, per @Octobadger’s suggestion. Really great albums, and cross over appeal beyond jazz enthusiasts
