Seriously imagine if Glasvegas won? No dis they are fine but that would have been grim for that to be seen as the best UK album that year
Hope Martha win
Anyway my picks are
Lisa Hannigan: Decent album, competently made.
Florance & the machine: Overplayed but its actually a well put together record with good songs.
La Roux: The actual full album is very annoying at points but the singles are fun brain worms right?
I dont think I actually ‘like’ any of these albums though. Like a few I wouldnt mind if you put them on (The Horrors, Bats for Lashes) but I wouldnt want to sit down and listen to them intently.
What a shite year
The Horrors - Primary Colours
Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
The Horrors’ astonishing turn-around from one-note goth punk joke to being capable of releasing something as considered and accomplished as Primary Colours will never not be worth recognising.
I know you’re all dying to know who judged the prize in 2009
Which incidentally was presented by Jools Holland.
Well done to The Horrors. Another year coming today!
Congrats the horrors, have got myself slightly obsessed by just how good this tune is as the album closer
