Seems smart to pick the accessible pop song with vocals but less wise if your singer isn’t always great at singing live
Yeah I don’t know if it really applies to Mogwai, but often with the mercurys there are unheard of or little known artists that get nominated then explode off the back of the nomination. There would have been people watching that night thinking oh right Mogwai they’re an indie vocal band, when that isn’t the case at all. They could have performed something more captivating and atmospheric to showcase their talents imo. Never mind. It’s a great album none the less.

The correct answer, of course, is Promises. Would have been a beautiful acknowledgement of Pharoah, a little over a year before his death (RIP).

Quite irked that an average Mogwai album has tied with that incredible Sault album.
