Just to check I wasn’t losing the plot I have just listened to Sleep again by Godspeed… walking back from work after a challenging night shift, on over ear Bose headphones at full volume, in the dark, in the rain, exhausted… and it was exhilarating, harrowing and uplifting all pretty much at the same time. Just the one track and I was home, anyhow…

In light of both my ramblings about Godspeed… and Neutral Milk Hotel recently, in what were first listens for me I figured it might just work if we do an album listing club.

This could be either me just rambling and no-one paying any attention, or anyone / everyone is free to join in. I am open to suggestions for albums. I will notify the day before what album it will be, could be something very familiar, could be a first listen, could be something in-between.

This week I will be off work on Saturday so it will be Saturday 9pm we listen, or I listen, up to you peeps if you join in or not. I will not be off work every Saturday but aim to do this weekly and at a user-friendly time. Might be fortnightly, or 10 days, depends on my work roster.

I don’t know how to do polls so let me know if this is a good idea. Off to sleep now, which is apt. Feel free to suggest albums although I already have some in mind. Offer is open to everyone. G’morning and G’night for now…

I think it’s a great idea! Did you ever get that Set Fire to Flames lp? Might be a bit niche for a listening club I suppose! Don’t forget to let me know if you want a loan of my cd copy.

I’ve still not received the code, I have emailed them (on Sunday) and heard nothing, I have tweeted them just now to try and get a reply.

It’s going to be Luciferian Towers, Saturday at 9pm. This will be a first listen for me. Fellow join along listeners and comments when the play is in process most welcome.

It’s really nice, very slow burning and has a Spacemen 3 Playing With Fire feel yet it feels more worldly than S3.

Sounds like they are strangling a bagpipe…
