It’s a testament to that shitshow of a squad that literally nobody on the planet would be able to tell you who he’d come in for or where he’d play

West Ham are an extremely bad club aren’t they. Hard to think of a worse one.

Yep. I usually only break out from lurking on the football threads on here to defend West Ham but we are an absolute joke. I would desperately want to see us relegated if I was a fan of another team, for the LOLs. I half even want it to happen myself, as much as it hurts to say that, in the vague hope that it would knock some sense into Sullivan and Brady (Gold seems ok but has to take some responsibility for allowing Sullivan to run riot).

This Tony Henry story stinks of Sullivan trying to deflect from another failed transfer window and the apparent underlying financial problems we must have. Something about the finances stinks.

One thing that made me laugh about the Daily Mail’s reporting of that story was the way they displayed their horrible ignorance when it comes to race in attempting to demonstrate the seriousness of his comments by pointing out how many African players West Ham have in our team…most of whom aren’t African.

“Pedro Obiang played youth football for Spain but is able to represent Equatorial Guinea” (played youth football for Spain because he’s Spanish)
“West Ham new boy Joao Mario elected to play for Portugal but is of Angolan descent” (elected to play for Portugal because he was born and raised there, I would guess)
“Angelo Ogbonna’s parents are Nigerian but he chose to represent the Italian national team” (something to do with being born, and growing up, in Italy)
“Edimilson Fernandes is a Switzerland international but is of Cape Verdean descent” (again, because he was born in Switzerland)

So anyone in our team who is foreign and black qualifies as an African to suit that story.

Read an article about a standout youth player who basically had his contract cancelled because he wouldn’t sign with his manager’s agent recently as well.

Which manager was that under? Heard a lot of that stuff went on under Allardyce but that’s obviously not recent.

Think Ravel Morrison mentioned something about that too?

Academy manager, i mean. Player was called Kieran Bywater.

Not comparing it to racism obviously, but it’s another example on the toxic nature of the club.

Not my joke:

But enough about the England fans!

Andy Carroll is African because he had corn rows for a while.

It’s a real problem across the Premier League.

I want to defend us but it’s impossible. It’s natural to stick up for your club, and I have tried to defend many of the numerous stupid things that our players/managers/owners/fans have done over the years, but stuff like this… Jesus wept. It’s infuriating and there is nothing we can do about it. Apart from not giving them my money anymore.

I honestly would be quite amused if we went down. I think my dislike of the owners has overtaken my love of the club at this point.

Yes, that is one of the owners.

David Gold lives just down the road from me in Caterham. He cut me up at a roundabout once.
