Aubameyang’s overall game has really declined over the last couple of seasons. He used to get involved in play but he’s pretty much solely an effective goalhanger now. I’d still consider him better than Lacazette, but it seems a case of square pegs in round holes to me. If people think he’s going to be anywhere near as effective on the right of a three i think they’ll prove somewhat mistaken. Maybe Lacazette will.

Might start trying again now he’s moved clubs.

Don’t rate him or lacazette tbf.

Maximum of 5 innit?

Sure if an english team would’ve won the champions league last year the team in 4th wouldn’t get int

That’s right

was right last year

from next next there can be 6 teams cos 4th place is guaranteed into the group stages (so previously only guaranteed into the group stages and that was in jeopardy if the winner was from your country and finished outside top 4)

fixing it so the big boys don’t miss out on the cash innit

straight into the group stages is now:

  • Champions League title holders
  • 10 champions from associations 1–10
  • 6 runners-up from associations 1–6
  • 4 third-placed teams from associations 1–4
  • 4 fourth-placed teams from associations 1–4
  • Europa League title holders

It should help Liverpool and Spurs as well.

Weird that people don’t rate aubameyang. Scored 2 in 3 in one of the best leagues in the world, similar ratio in the champos, for the last 5 years. Bit of a risk to spend that much bunse on a 28 year old who’s so reliant on pace, and he seems like a right bellend, but hes 100% proven to be a very good footballer

ngl, pretty impressed with how that turned out

Auba’s goals and assists stats are ridiculous. I think pretty much only Messi betters them. Second highest goalscoring rate in Bundesliga history. Doubt he’s one of the top five forwards in the world or anything but he’s obviously up there somewhere.

He’s set up five goals in his last 60 games.

Yeah, this may be right actually

Apologies
Would be well annoying if your team came 4th, but due to scenarios didn’t qualify whereas 5th & 6th (or maybe even 7th Arsenal fans) did

I meant that people combine ‘g + a’ stats these days

Oh, it seems @iamwiggy backs up my previous statement

He’s the most underrated finisher in Europe, but isn’t that good a footballer. If Arsenal put him upfront and just let him ping them in he’ll be a great signing, but he’s not the sort who’s going to overly involve himself in play, track back, aggresively press, accept being played out wide long-term, etc, or at least hasn’t been for two years.

stopped thinking about them one they changed the rules and the top four leagues automatically got four spots. thought England might’ve dropped to 4th for a while, but after such a strong showing this season it wouldn’t have mattered anyway tbh

wrote this about Barca’s season so far.

TL:DR version;

Reckon four in midfield really suits them - best defensive record in Europe, and then you can always rely on Messi/Suarez to score goals (e.g last night)

Given the league is done, reckon they should just use it to bed in Coutinho/Dembele/Mina, and rest the older players for Europe. Valverde’s found a system that works, and fairly obvious first XI, so don’t think they should change that. Injuries have unfortunately made Dembele’s season a write-off so far - given that, I think they should just take it easy with him. Use him as an impact sub in Europe.
