Do you want to start it or shall I? I won’t be able to start it until Monday.
let’s see how tonight goes!
Very reluctant to listen to bands if they
- have a name I don’t know how to pronounce;
- have a deliberately offensive/excessively sweary name;
Basically if I wouldn’t want to ask for it out loud in a record shop I don’t want to listen to it.
Once upon a time I asked for Skunk Anansi’s debut album for my birthday. Skunk Anansi’s debut album was not forthcoming because my mum decided she didn’t want to make a tit of herself trying to pronounce their name in the shop.
Not going to listen to a band if seeing a truly awful album cover is the first way I come across them.
They say you should never judge a book by its cover; I say life’s too short for shitty aesthetics.
Im not interested in listening to that album by uk rapper Dave regardless of how good it is and how many people say I should.
I’ve relaxed this stance a bit with some older bands, but if a new band takes a random condescending shot at my favorite band or Pearl Jam, they can fuck right off.
Called something like girl band or wives or w/e and it’s all dudes. FO lads.
incredible band tbf
Don’t care about sweary but I don’t like gross names. Mrs Piss? No thank you
I’ve no problem with swearing in everyday life, but it just seems so try hard when it’s a band name. Like you though I have more of a problem with gross names. I just can’t get myself into a frame of mind where I want to listen to a band called Pissed Jeans, however good everyone says they are.
I went a step further and bought a Pissed Jeans hoody which I regret immenselt
I had the tshirt where their name was barely legible and it was great.
I bought a great Holy Fuck t-shirt about 10 years ago featuring a cat wearing a bandana and cowboy hat, but then realised I was embarrassed wearing a sweary t-shirt out and about in view of children and pensioners.
I bought one more recently where the letters are all spaced out which is a bit less obvious. Their recent artwork always looks like it’s trying to play down the sweary name by spacing out the letters or jumbling them up.
4 absolutely amazing albums. I bet you’re glad you changed your mind and gave them a go?
Its a really great album tbf. Revisited it recently for the first time in ages. Still hits
I wonder if their merch ever included any, erm, ‘on brand’ jeans. Actually, no. No I don’t.
if there is any hint (explicit or implicit) of a band being here to give the music industry a good kick up the arse, i ain’t listening
Or if they supposedly sound like another band, but on acid.
