Minute Cryptic

That be misusing an overdraft though, not misusing a debit card right?

If you get it from using your debit card poorly then you’re misusing the debit card and ending up overdrawn.

I’m only now realising there was a ! at the end of the clue and therefore the clue was an &lit. I was looking for anagram of debit card, where the first word was likely to be bad, that was a synonym of consequence and I had to reveal 7 of the 9 letters to get it  I think that oversight explains it though. Either way, still think the difficulty rating was incorrect.

Today’s definition feels pretty stretchy.

As he says in the video which I watched because I couldn’t see how nurses was an anagram indicator, and of course it was a container one, but we’re using caretaker as an adjective.

Yeah, watched it too, my brain just finds it a bit clumsy not having a contextual word to go alongside caretaker, e.g. ‘caretaker government’ or ‘caretaker manager’, whereas ‘acting’ feels it can stand up on its own a bit more. Probably just a me thing!

No I agree, but the definitions often are stretchy and when you spot the wordplay there isn’t really much doubt what the word is, I suppose.

I got the answer with a guess, but I don’t know what the reasoning is

Tbh I don’t really want to know because it will definitely annoy me

I enjoyed today’s, didn’t spot the key fodder earlier but returned to it just now and got it relatively quickly.

I did cancel my subscription this week, I’m not availing if the community at all. It’s a little too active for me to casually dip in and out of.

have you seen the worldle inventor has made a cryptic game?

Yeah, Marckee posted it in the Wordle thread a couple of days ago. I like it. Different way to learn.

They’ve launched a really well implemented ‘scribble space’ for members which I I believe they plan in rolling out to everyone at some point.

To be honest it probably makes sense to keep it behind the paywall so wouldn’t be surprised if they do a u-turn.

Not sure about Tuesday 7th April .

is LEGO surprisingly expensive? Always feels cheaper in most cases to me, except for the huuuuge brand-based ones, in which case I’m not sure the expense is surprising. Certainly they have always had a load of low priced stuff out there.

Liam Runnalls does today’s cryptic down here.

As the father of a lego obsessed 6 year old, I’m shocked with how expensive it can be, and not just the existing IP tie ins

Oh right, fair enough. I seem to recall you could buy little sets for under a fiver in the supermarket
